View Full Version : Good Love Songs For A Pop-Punk Mix CD

TMA

So, me and my girlfriend have officially declared mix cd war. We just keep making a whole bunch of CDs for eachother, most of which have songs that strongly focus on love, and this got me thinking:
If you were making a CD such as one of these for somebody close to you, what Pop-Punk/Emo/Hardcore/Whatever love songs would you put on the CD? But, in a way, it's a bit difficult. Because a lot of Pop-Punk love songs are post break-up songs, and if you put those on a CD for somebody you're with, it seems a little akward. They kind of have to be songs that explain to the person you're with that they are loved.
I know, it's odd in ways, but, I'm just really interested at what other people on here would do?
I made one for her last night that had songs like:
Foo Fighters - Everlong
Morrisey - Let Me Kiss You
Revis - Living Rooms
Bowling For Soup - Belgium (Acoustic)
Motion City Soundtrack - Red Dress

They seem like good ones, even if they aren't all Pop-Punk like.
So, what else would you put on?

Thanks. I think these'll help me come up with some good stuff also. But I think I might need to screen a lot of it first. She's a bit of an Indie kid where as I listen to *** loads of Pop-Punk, Punk, Emo, Hardcore, Post-Hardcore, and other stuff. So, we're kind of trying to expand eachothers tastes, but not by just jumping right on it. Trying to make it a bit of a smooth transition. I'm not trying to change her, just expand her taste a bit, as she is doing to me.

Although, while they are ace, I don't think much Descendents would be suited to a mix CD of romantic soppy songs to tug at a lady's heartstrings. Just a thought, of course.

Apparently, she's also recently been digging A Static Lullaby, Early November, Starting Line, and Alk 3. And in my mind... that's really cool.

Starting Line and Early November.....2 good bands into a womens heart. My girlfriend really digs both of them and she got me into them. I havent heard starting line's new stuff so i cant comment it, but you cant go wrong with "best of me" and as for early november, try something from "the room's too cold" album.

Yeah, I love them both myself.
I put Bedroom Talk by The Starting Line on a CD for her recently (it's new stuff, so...), but before it, I showed her the lyrics and she thought it was about *ss sex. But, I put the song on a CD for her, and she just f*cking loves it. :thumb:
The meaning of the song changes when you actually hear it. Instead of being about sticking it in somebody's brown, it's becomes a sweet song.

She loved that song though, so it was awesome.
I would have put Swing Life Away on it, but... I think it's been over used in to many situations, so I avoided it.
EDIT:
Yeah, my gf listens to a lot of Indie-like stuff. On CDs she's made me, she's put on a lot of stuff by The Eels and The Decemberists (who, I now love, and it's awesome cause they're now local hero's to me, seeing as the also come from Portland :thumb:).
