View Full Version : Any Insights On Three-Octave Arpeggios?

I was wondering if anyone had a good practice drill for three-octave arpeggios.
I want to develop techniques which race up and down the neck, rather than just across the strings.
Thanks, whoever you are :-D

You're just wanting some three-octave arps?
Some random arp:
e----------------------9-12-15
B-----------------8-11--------
G-------------6-9-------------
D---------5-8-----------------
A-----4-7---------------------
E-3-6-------------------------
and back down
You're going to hate me for linkage but this isn't my work so ethical me can't copy and paste. So :p... :)

Haha, that was from a b'day card I gave to my mate. It had that on the front and inside it said "For your birthday, I grew you a cat"
Definitely original.
Deprived of Sanity is the name of one of my bands :).

Trea,
Jeff Beasley is definately a good teacher, although he made a mistake on example 9.
He meant to show the 7th flat 9, but instead, played a simple C7 arpeggio.

Anyway, I'm not trying to complain :D
(BTW: I know lots of arpeggios - I just wanted to "seed" the forum with more ideas)

MRDuCran's examples are nifty, although his labeling is incorrect.
I don't mean to be nit-picky, but technically, an octave contains two roots. So, for the first example of the E Hirajoshi, from 12th fret low E string, to the 24th fret high E string - this is the span of 3 octaves.
The second example of Em, which is equally valid as an arpeggio fingering, is only 4 octaves, from the low open E string to the tapped note on the 24th fret of the high E string.
And finally, the third example of Cm7 from the 8th fret low E string, to the 20th fret high E string is only the span of 3 octaves.
I just wanted to state this, because other forum members might get confused.
