new song is up: Rotting Upon Crucifiction

I could only listen to Icycle Formation Of The Frost Bitten Apocalypse but I didn't really like the sound of the guitar. The only problem with black metal is that it needs to be produced well and unfortunately I don't thing that was recorded to well. I think its good but the downside is the guitar sound.

Icycle Formation Of The Frost Bitten Apocalypse.....that guitar tone is the most horrible thing i have ever heard. I cant comment on the music cause i cant understand what is going on. Re-record it and post it on here.
Warriors Of The Arctic Allegiance.....the guitar tone is awful in this one too. although i can make out what is going on...pretty basic stuff.
What did u use to record?

added another song with different guitar tones as well as an additional guitar :)
Errr...to all who are criticizing the production, isn't tr00 black metal supposed to be really terribly recorded? Therefore, isn't it possible he did a great job?

It's poor quality killed my ears. There's just a big loud sound in the back that goes up and down. Sorry, you need some better recording equipment... :-/

what is it drop Z tuning? the guitar sound was so low and bassy that I couldn't listen to the song. But I bet from a real black metat point, the production might be great. I'm not much of a black metal fan but if you made that tone a lot better, the song would probably stand out more.

I think you should either pick to make death metal-ish songs or black metal songs because it didn't sound very good when you combined low tunings with a crappy tone.
try making a whole interesting song like the start of Sandstorm Of The Entombed Devourment.

ok... to clear everything up thus far, the production is MEANT to suck, and the tuning is standard

As in meant, do you mean that you want it to sound horrible? Try recording each instrument one at a time, at a low volume, and piece it together. If you don't have a great recording program, try Audacity: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Having a good recording program doesn't mean it'll sound good, it just means that you have the tools to adjust the music.

i use Steinberg Wavelab 5 and have access to a countless number of VSTs. each instrument IS recorded one at a time... people, i WANT it to sound this way, that's why i've produced it so :)

I think crappy trebbly tone is awsome for Black metal Tremolo picking.
But it woudn't be good trying to play anything else with the same tone.
My two cents.

I'm a black metal fan, and from what I've heard, I can not stand the guitar tone. It's way too bassy. The drumming isn't that great, either.

This is quite hilarious. I mean.. what IS that horrible droning sound in the foreground of every ****ing song? It could use some work; especially with the guitar tone. It's way too bassy.
On the other hand, the cowbell abuse is entirely awesome. The drumming I find to be highly enjoyable.

I was thinking like why is everyone bashing this? And then I heard your music. It reminded me of my old dialup connection *reminesces*
Seriously, the recording is awful and the music was off tune most of the time. And since did arabic tunes sound like that?
Advice: Take some music lessons and work harder.

ok, i don't remember saying anything about arabic TUNES. the second album is arabic THEMED. the only remotely arabic in the whole thing is an arabic scale used in the last song and the intro to it.
I listen to a few of the song and they all sounded basically the same, as said above change your guitar tone, and your songs get old the 1st time you listen to them, also try to get vocals on them eventually.
/my 2 cents

You can tell that the drums are fake. If they were real they would be good patterns, so compliments to whoever the person was that did the drums. Does all black metal sound like this?
I'm thinking about doing a death metal project. Something similar to Black Dahlia Murder. All I would need are drums...

What about guitar tone wise, do most black metal bands have guitars that have the high cranked to 11 and a lot of reverb, can you tell me a all out black metal band?
LivingDeadBoy
01-03-2006, 12:51 PM
The settings are more like most metal settings, that is including Mudvayne and oithers. So fair amoutn of low end but it cuts through. The sound is much more clear. The drums are heavy on cymbals, but yet have a rhythm... Not a straight down double bass roll. Lot's of variation in the riffs. Fast.
Imagine Death Metal with anti-religious content :p (I know this isn't true, but meh)
LivingDeadBoy

I think I cracked their secret. They are recording by plugging guitars directly into the soundcard, which results in the high pitched tone on distortion. Mic the amps guys.
Also another secret is that they suck.

Are you one of these retards who listens to music and is like "oh, that's not death metal, it's heavy metal with power metal influences and harsh vocals".
Maybe my stuff isn't in the vein of old school black metal, but black metal is what it pretty much is.

LivingDeadBoy is talking out his *** and probably has no clue what black metal sounds like.
Your stuff is black metal, howevere I can't stand to hear it due to the guitars or whatever it is that sounds so horrible. No offense intended. I'm not bashing your music, because it sounds alright from what I can make of it, but you really neeed to work on your instrument's settings and production.

You asked us what we think and we said it's not good. If I were you I would just redo everything cause obviously alot of people think it's bad. Nothing personal but I just don't get it, how are we supposed to think it's good if there's constant annoying really loud noise in every song you have?

I listened to Scorn Messiah Draped Over A Seasoned Cross. The tone doesn't sound that good, but whatever floats your boat. The drums sounded pretty cool, but they were kinda hard to hear. Sorry if im stepping on black metal ground, I haven't really listened to black metal, so I don't really know what is expected. I just wanted to comment on it so you could at least get an answer.
