What are the differences on each type that makes them more expensive?

Obviously, I suppose the stock pickups, but what else makes a difference? Why would I want to spend 2 times on a MIA, when I can easily get the MIM? Are they active? Better woods? Other things?

I have only been able to check MIM's, and although I didn't liked the J-Bass, I loved the P-Bass.

While the MIM jazz basses are made out of the same wood as the MIA, but overall construction and craftsmenship are completely different.

What MIA has that MIM doesn't:
graphite reinforced neck
s-1 switch
option of maple fretboard
better bridge
better stock electronics
Different pick guard options
top load or string thru bridge...etc.

THe MIM's are great basses for the price and you can mod one and never be happier, but it is really miles away from a MIA.

/Happy with Modded MIM bass.
