Help regarding line 6 bass pod

So, i got a line 6 bass pod xt for my birthday and it is fantastic. However, when i plug it into the pc via usb for recording it begins to mess up. Firstly i got the drivers, but whenever i try and open up a program to record with my pc shuts down and restarts :confused:
