computor software for recording.

I was wondering if anyone knows what you need for your comp for recording on it. i want to know software and other thing becaus i really dont know anything about it.

I prefer to use Kristal. It's free so you can't go wrong. It takes some getting used to but it is great. Audacity is also free, but pretty basic.

do you just plug a mic in the back of your comp or do i need a mixer?
