If you want a synth type pedal im selling mine... It's the Ibanez SB7 Jody posted... it's a great pedal but ive got no use for it.. i have fun with it, but i need the cash to help fund a 6 stringer...

btw, Flea uses a Q-Tron, not a bassball's

atleast im pretty sure.. i know he did at one point, he could have switched...

so wich is beter, the q-tron or the bass balls?

Jody LeCompte
12-15-2005, 03:16 PM
Probably the Q-tron, but I tend to be hesitant of all electro harmonix products

Electro harmonix is an awsome effects company! as long as you stay away from their bottom shelf "made in russia" plastic ones.

it is honestly a toss up between Q-tron and Bassballs. Q-trons have more dials to play around with than bassballs, which is always fun. But bassballs was made for the bass' sonic range, while q-tron was not.

right now i have EH's small clone and a vintage 80's bassballs

yea the russian muff sounds much beter than the american for bass (depending on what tone your going for of course but generaly), it doesnt have a power lead thing though and i dont think its as well built as the americans.

Potatoe
12-15-2005, 05:22 PM
on that it probably means a paint scratch, nothing major. it will soundc the exact same as any other one, but it will come not looking as pretty as a non blem

blem= blemished= it has pimples :p

140, eh!?
thats about standard price here in Aus for a decent pedal
(actually its kinda cheap for a decent pedal)
No doubt we'll end up paying close to 500 when they choose to release them here.

I paid 250 for a custom Overdrive, the boss one is about the same new in just about any music shop, or more

Thats why your better off getting a good multi effects down here.

Like my Boss ME-50B :D

I prefer seperate effects, essentially more control over the settings and you can easily change the order or sell the pedals if you don't like the way they sound, also effects loops within the effects boards arent possible with multi effect pedals.

I'm goign to get a boss PSM one of these days to further complicate my pedal setup.

Bassballs is a fairly unique envelope filter, don't think you can replace it with just any other envelope. There is a whole lot more range to it as well than shown in the video. Some very cool dub sounds can be had with it.
I quite like mine, if you can't tell.

kilian
12-16-2005, 07:53 AM
^^And you can feed it distortion, feed it reverb, feed it whatever and it will eventually come out even better

But yes, you need to funk with it. In a poprock band, like my band, there is no use for it. I couldn't find any 'normal' and just 'cool' setting.

Have you already written a review for the Small stone MR?

Mitchell Royce
12-16-2005, 08:03 AM
Haven't got a Small Stone, only a Small Clone. Which is my favourite pedal as of late.

I actually used my Bassballs on a poprock song, with me just doing straight 8ths. Sounded darn nice to me and the other guys. I totally agree with you about feeding ít some other effects, it makes some great sounds. One of my favourites is an octaver before the bassballs, it's hard to not sound funky. I do use it rarely in a band setting but when I do it's great.

Where do you live? i can get a quote from FedEx or something...

and i'll make it $35 instead, i thought i had a box and everything, but i had it confused with my boss GEB-7... i bought them like a week apart from each other.. so, yeah.. My bad... It' just the pedal, no box or manual. but it is in good condition...

photobucket.com/sixner i've got pic's of it if ya need in my band_gear and/or more_gear section's...
