Ok so my lead singer has sever problems with feed back when we are practiceing. He has ashure sm58 mic and we were wondering if there was somethign that we can do to stop the insine feedback when there are no vocals going into the mic.

Mess around with the settings on the amp. If he is singing through a guitar amp turn everything down and then you can proboably mess around with the reverb as much as you want. Try turning the mic in a different direction too. Maybe pull it farther away from the mic.

he is going through a 800 watt pa system. i was wondering if anyone knows of a good inexpecive compressor or noise gate or feed back suppressor that can be used

ok i know that. i was wondering if anyone has the same problem and can tell my what thay are useing it remidy the situation.

Use a low gain in the mic channel input and raise the master volume to the highest setting you can before it feeds back. Using gain to increase volume will also increase feedback, as it widens the mics dynamics range.

It's about positioning. And remember to not cup your hand over it.
