anyone else tried them? i bought a pair of 7A's the other day, my freind said they blistered his hands like hell, but i quite like the feel of them so far, although my hands did feel a bit sore... Im guessing theses are more for jazz drummers than any others.

yep, they blistered my hands up as well. Especially where the dipped surface makes contact with the base of my left index finger and where the dip touches the base of each of my right hand fingers. I think some folks actually have an allergic skin reaction to the stuff...it's something like latex.

imo, sticks need to lightly sanded at the most, or you'll be looking at a bunch of blisters.

I tried a pair, I liked the grippy feel and didn't get any blisters, but after less than a week this happened

so I wouldn't buy them
edit - sorry about the huge picture

i have a pair and like them. no blisters or alergic reaction or anything like that.
but the grip wore off pretty fast at the fulcrum (pivot point) in my grip.
i dont think i would buy them again.

I've used them, they're alright but they do wear down pretty quickly. I broke a pair within about two to three weeks.

they break easy.. i got no blisters, but they seem like a novelty thing. and instead of jazz, i would've thought they would be used for rock and metal.. where your hands might get sweatier than playing lighter music.

i didnt even think the rubber helped that much.
the regular wood sticks i use are not slippery so i dont see a need for this.
you could always just buy the sticks you like and then tape them with hockey tape or something. i think i may have even seen rubber grips for sticks that go on like a sleeve and can be interchanged when your stick breaks.
i wouldnt recomend buying these.
are these more expensive then the regular versions of the sticks?

surely the rubber would aid in the slipping if it got wet, i thought light playing because i tend not to hold the stick very tight when playing light stuff, so its just a bit of extra grip for some loose drumming.

i thought the 'rubber' would help. something i like a bit more is some sort of coated stick, it has a bit more grip then regular wooden sticks. great alternative to dip's. i used to have a regal tip pair.. but they snapped/got lost in my basement.

I like them a lot. But the coating tears and starts lifting away from them after very little use. I peeled the rest of it off and you just end up with a pair of ordinary sticks. Had two pairs, but I wouldn't buy them again for that reason.

I liked the feel of them and stuff, but they aren't very durable. I'd play Zildjians if they endorsed me.

F ** k thoses sticks as far away as possible they tear ur hands up afterlpaying a set. I used them at a gig last year and by the end i was sorry All that friction cant be good for your hands, think about it!

I bought a pair and the they lasted less then 30 minutes and they broke. I think that maybe it was a defective pair I don't play very harde but no way is the store going to replace them and I was out $15.
Sticking with Vic.

They literally stripped the skin off the base of both of my index fingers and a bit off each thumb too, leaving large open blisters. And I already had callouses. As you can imagine, the callouses are a bit tougher since the blisters healed :thumb: . I wouldn't recommend them. They felt pretty clunky to me also.

I just generally don't like them, I think they look quite good but they make hands sweaty and blistery. I just use normal maple ones

i hate em, they blistered the hell out of my hands within 15 minutes of playing =\.. a bit heavy for me to... i'll just stick to the cheap all wood sticks.. if i want more grip, i'll use electrical tape.

Well I will have to agree with everyone and say they blister. I remeber using these 2 years ago and it ripped my skin off. So as payback I ripped its coating off, still didnt like the stick much though.

Avoid zildjian sticks at all costs... Trust me on this one.

No don't avoid Zildjian sticks at all costs. Avoid the dip sticks yes. The grip is just a gimmick that pays in death to your hands. Regular Zildjians though are great sticks IMO. A pair of 5b Zildjians pwn the **** out of the equivalent Vics. They just feel lighter and kind of more agile in your hands for want of a better expression. They bounce back nicely. They can break easily though. Not as mentally as some people would suggest on here (like, I dunno..30 pairs a day or something) but they certainly don't last as long as others. The one pair of dip sticks I owned tore my right index finger up during a gig and broke within the same week.

Zildjian sticks are pretty horrible, they are waaaay too shoddily made. Sticks should not break that easily. That tells you how much time and effort they put into creating good sticks.

Agreed.
One of my friends uses Zildjian sticks, and i've borrowed them a couple of times.
Never again.
