Hey, this is probably a question that comes up often but can you recommend some songs with bass distortion? I'm into hard rock, grunge and metal. So can you recommend some songs in those genres with bass distortion? I know I can just add distortion to songs with clean bass but I wanna hear some songs with bass distortion right now. And I know I can just make up a song and put distortion in it, I've already done that with my band. Thanks in advance.

Audioslave in my mind generally has more creative bass, but I tend to like RATM more as a whole.

Anasthesia (Pulling Teeth) - Metallica (really fun (EDIT: it's more of a solo than a song) to learn)

Yeah agreed but Tim always has distortion in his tone. Most of the Audioslave Self Titled album he uses distortion especially in songs like Cochise, Gasoline, What You Are.

123, especially on Hearts Alive, good distortion in that.
why is my mind drawing a blank on other bands?
In A Jar - Dinosaur Jr
Not that distorted, but a bit. Bassline is awesome though.
Anything by Nirvana sounds good. Especially "Breed", awesome distorted intro.

Cologne? Are you thinking about Calgone?
Anyway, check out some Kyuss as well, I think they have a few nice distorted lines.

Well, they are great.
No denying that. They're pretty much the only Metal band I can stand to listen to anymore. Hearst Alive kicks all kinds of a§§.

Muse is definately a good one. Distortion is fun to mess around with anyway. Just play a normal line and use distortion, can sound really good.

Almost every band uses distortion on bass, it just tends to get lost in the mix a lot more when it is distorted.
I was riding with my mom the other day, and she is listening to pop, and nearly every song had a distorted bass.

That said, I thought Leviathan was a dog egg of an album when compared to Remission. And even that pales in comparison to In The Eyes of God, the Today is The Day album that Brann and Bill played on.
But, since Steve Von Till from Neurosis sings on Leviathan by mastodon, I'll reccommend Lost By Neurosis off the almighty "Enemy Of The Sun" album as a metal song with bass distortion. The bass replaces the guitar pretty much in that track as the main driving force when the whole thing blows up at the end.

Impaled Nazarene have some awesome basslines...P bass and distortion coming together in harmony.
it's the same in Marduk, but it's a Ric he uses and the songs aren't as good.

deffinatly (sorry if this has already been metioned) anestesia: pulling teeth by metallica, awsome song, challenging (once the drums kick in about ?3 minutes in?) call of the ktulu (also by metallica, also cliff burton) i can't hear the bass part, but apparently the first half of the song is a bass solo, i must be retarded, but i can't hear it... haha and lastly, stone dead forever, also by metallica haha, the're all awsome songs... all distorted
