Um, I think we might have been seperated at birth or something because looking at you is like looking at myself (if I got a haircut, anyway.). It's weird.

Good playing.

try to work on your hand/foot coodination, it gets sloppy sometimes.
your sticktwirling needs work, but thats not important.

Personaly I hate the way your cymbals are set up, but thats a personal preference.

nice job for 2 years though.

wow man. I love the triplet bonham thing you had going on. Although you went from so to fast in a second. So you might wanna start off slow then slowly bring it up to speed. But that was a pretty kick *** video.

you're holding the sticks very far down, the tempo changes aren't smooth, the transtitions between grooves aren't smooth, your chops aren't bad though and you have a cool avatar

I was just about to say that exactly right after I watched the movie.

Great minds think alike...

But, yeah, pretty good job. Definetely hold your sticks a bit higher, though, that'll help your chops. And you might want to angle your cymbals towards you a bit, it isn't good for them if you hit the edges (couldn't tell exactly, but it looked like you might've been).

Good job, though, better than me. :smash:

With a bit of work you're gonna have a killer right foot.

Well...the way they are in that video...the crash is on a boom arm so i really dont have much option but all the cymbals are considerably low so i'm not hitting the edges as much as it seems...

haha...thanks...i think its from playing all RHCP when i first started...really got my foot going...i can almost play the greeting song flawlessly:D

Okay, cool thing.

:thumb:

My ride over my floor tom is pretty high up, and you'd think I'd hit the rim, too, but my throne's high enough so I don't. Cymbals can look goofy in videos.

For me, it's the fact that I listen to death metal so much.

Try My Plague by Slipknot. A lot of the bassing up to the bridge (and most past it) are 8ths. Possible on one foot (but still pretty hard). Eh, I know Joey's not very popular around here, but all I can say is that heavy bassing songs like that are great for working on your feet.

Yeah i've heard that song...but theres just something about it that makes me not want to play it...i just love how Chad Smith plays, he fits everything in so perfectly and he has AMAZING feet...or...foot?

me likes!

stop flipping the sticks so damn much though....especially since ya seem to mess up every other time.. ;)

but I like your feel.. that little roll you do just after you come out of the first stick flip thing was niceeee.. so simple, but I love that kinda of crap. are they just little paradiddle rolls you're doing from snare to toms?

buahaha...the stick flips are a bad habit:(...lol i dunno if its a paradiddle or not...but i doubt it is...because i'm really bad at rudiments...its just drags/buzz rolls/bouncey things...lol...

lol, okay etop2, you just didn't make it clear what you were talking about.

;)

Paradiddle: RLRR or LRLL

t1|-o--------------
T2|----o-oo--------
F1|---------o------
F2|------------o-oo
SD|o-oo-o--o-oo-o--

That would be an example of a paradiddle fill/roll down the toms and snare (don't know how it would would sound, just tabbed it as an example).

Not bad. How old yea?

First, i liked your snare alot, pretty cool work with minimal recording equip, looked like you where having fun, and some of the double bass was pretty cool.

Second, Work a little on the trasitions, ditch the stick flipping, add some dynamics on the snare.

Nice playing man. I would work on those transitions a bit more until you get them down smoothly everytime. Keep it up man, nice job :thumb:

Plan B.

You have a good ear/style for double bass. I'd just say try and make the transitions smoother, and the stick thing that was mentioned above. You may find out and things will just click and you'll find playing much easier if you find a technique that's less work for you, and using the sticks bouce/rebound.

Cool to see an open handed player too. Some cool things to try out would be some different rhythms on your hats than just straight 8ths. Sounds great and not to mention is looks sooo cool when Carter plays wild stuff on the hats haha.

yeah good suggestion with the dynamics on the snare.. that's what I've been working on most in my playing (just about 1 year playing), which is probably one of the reasons I can't play as freely as you seem to be able to with the toms. but it really opens up a lot more possibilities when you're throwing in drags and flams and ghost notes galore, and it seems you probably wouldn't have much trouble learning since you have a pretty good feel for the drums as it is when you're accenting the rolls..

I'm surprised you're not sure what you're doing. a good deal of it is in pretty good time, and the beats seem to match up well with the rhythm (as opposed to hitting things totally randomly). that kind of stuff seems to take quite a bit of practice and experience, but you're just banging away. awesome. :)
