Can anyone help me? I am getting a bass in January and have put a deposit on a Washburn T24. They're asking £320 for it and to my horror I just found one for £235 on the internet! I won't get my refund back but they'll let me buy something else from the shop. They stock Fenders, Washburns and quite a few other makes for a small shop. What should I do?

demand your money back. Thats pretty crappy that they won't let you have it back.

If the deposit was around 100 pounds you could always get a stand for your new bass and some effects.

Of course they won't give you it back - it's a bloody deposit !
This is why I always look around before going to any shop, I can at least go in and say I can get it cheaper elsewhere and get a guaranteed discount.

The deposit was £60 and I did look around before placing the deposit. I am so confused. I love the Washburn but if they're going for £235 then thy can't be that good. My other choice is to get a Fender Standard Jazz for £320-£360 from the same shop but I've heard people slag them off in the past.

Well, you will always need cables and strings and stuff, so why don't you buy that from them and get the bass of the 'net?

Play a fender jazz, then see if you think its worth keeping the deposit in for it. I personally don't like jazzes, but only because the neck is so thin. The tone is sex though...

That is a good idea and there are a few pedals I like but loosing that £60 will reduce my budget if I do decide to go online. I haven't, believe it or not had a real go on a jazz. What kind of tone do they have? I like a warm tone but I like getting a bit of WHAMMY if you hit hard near the bridge. Can you control both pickups on standard jazzes?

on almost all jazzes you can control both pickups

Heres a question, if you played it and liked it enough to buy it than why does it matter that its only 230 pounds?
EDIT: Read it wrong. Froogle is your friend.
