For those of you who own a Premier or know of them, I would like your opinions on the Cabria Metallica Drum Sets. I know their made of 100 percent mahogany ( Which I asume is better than my current 100 percent poplar something or other Rythem Traveler ). Its about 717 dollars on Massmusic.com and I was wondering if it would be a good stepup.. Or should I look into Sonor 3005 or Yamaha Stage Customs or something other?

Also are the Janus pedals and hi-hats pretty good? The price seems pretty decent, but I havn't heard much about them and would like some feedback.

Premier are GREAT drums for the money but not very well known or so it seems..... I'd jump on it... A big plus: Add-on toms are cheap so that pretty nice....

Janus a decent pedals but there's better out there.... Same goes for the hat...

For almost the same price you as the Yammies/Sonors is the Artist line.... Now THAT is a great drum!!!

The mahogany they are made of is Philppine mahogany or luan, and isn't the same as proper mahogany.
The Cabrias aren't bad kits, but if you are looking to upgrade from a starter kit I'd wait until you had the small amount of extra cash needed for the Premier Artist range or A Sonor 3005 or Mapex Pro-M, all of which are made from 100% maple (or a choice of 100% birch in the case of the Artist). These would meet your needs for an awful lot longer.

that premier is a great kit. i have a vintge premier and love it, if you can afford it, look into artist birch as they are a big step up from the cabria and have some lovel finishes. as for the janus, i really like he look of the double pedal incorporatd into the hat stand but i have never trie them.

I had an APK Premier that I bought in 1980.
I just traded it in for a PDP CX.
I couldn't find a Premier dealer in New York. Its had to buy a drum set because you can't test it out. I bought these b/c they are smaller and easier to carry and have a big sound. The finish on the CX sucks, but the sound it incrediable.
