this is cool that you basically merged the threads. saves me the hassel of posting my Email in 3-4 diffrent places. And that Fintroll you sent out was pretty good, but it was my first taste of folk metal and i have no idea on grading scale for that genre. So im just going to assume that Fintroll is good at what they do and assume that i am right.

No the two mailing lists are seperate, since half of the people on the power metal one don't want any folk metal.

Finntroll is quite different from the other bands, they have strong elements of polka in there music. I find them extremely catchy though.

City of Evil proves to me A7X are a talented group of musicians, but I'm hard-pressed to even call it metal. It hints at sounding like Sonata Arctica at times, but they're still far from being labeled as power.

Umm... no. Everything before City of Evil sounds like a mediocre metal/hardcore/punk band. And just because they have a few intricate guitar harmonies and dramatic choruses on City of Evil does not mean they're power metal.

I uploaded Falconer's self-titled debut. I also have the 2nd album but not the one with the new singer...

Obviously, song length has little to do with genre, power metal bands just tend to make songs more epic. It doesn't really matter how you assign a genre to a band or album. I think a lot of power metal fans may take to City of Evil, the vocal harmonies are a bit much in some places but I feel that way about some Blind Guardian songs as well...
