Finally got round to getting a video up for you guys. Tell me what you think.

I had my first kit and formal lesson in mid august. I knewo how to play drums beforehand but nothing serious. Just 'trying' to play to songs with my air drums.

I just started playing open handed yesterday hence the low hi hat position

That was pretty solid. Nice thud from your kick. Just work on smoothing out your fills.

your fills look like you just hit whatever was there....i think maybe lower your crash abit, work on your accuracy, and try and figure out in your head what your gonna do next a few seconds before you do it...then youll be full set

also work on your rudiments, you dont seem that relaxed when you go into a faster roll, you tense up your body and lose your fluidity

Rather spot on with the hit anything thats there comment >.<.. Yeah ive been know to be a little tense. I just dont seem to know how to gain speed without loosening up to much..

perfect practice makes perfect.

start slow and relaxed, then speed up while staying relaxed. it only takes a few days of practice to get the hang of it and make it feel natural, then it takes months to perfect it. goodluck :)

Nice drumming, but like Styler said, work on rudiments and keeping those fills in time. Nice finish on the kit btw.

Both of your cymbals look really high and tough to reach. Otherwise it sounds pretty good.

Rudiments will help with your strokes. It will help you get to speeds of your fills that you were trying to do in that video. Work on your fills because as mentioned before, it looked like you were just hitting random drums. Work at a speed that you can play cleanly at. Your snare fills were horrible because you went faster than your ability. Work on those things and you will be on the right track. Your crashes looked a bit awkard so you might want to fix them and you were a bit tense. The beat you were playing was pretty good though for a guy at your skill level. Nice kit you got there and keep practicing!

I would suggest trying to close those hats a little tighter, more of a crisp sound than slosssh all the time, it drowns out much of the other stuff, pretty grooving other than that! :thumb:

Yea you just gotta feel the beat if you know what I mean. And as everyone else said, fix your cymbals. And your pretty good for not playing for very long.

Thnx for the feedback. Um I knew how to play since i was say...13 ish. that was just the basic 4/4 beat...Never touched a kit after that for about 3-4 years. then i jumped on one around april..and loved the feeling of playin drums again. So i finally got some lessons and a kit in mid august. and yeah :) thats my story so far.

Been trying to lean open handed with the intention of working up my left hand and getting a double kick soon to work on the left foot. Was tempetd to try playing left handed but doubt i would be very sucessful with that
