nice stuff man. little advice though:try making your toms a little more even. since they are mounted on the bass drum and are so big it might be a little harder but it can be done.

Why does everyone always say that? "Flatten out the toms man, ya gotta make em flat!"

If thats what someone is comfortable with, then leave it at that.

Nice pickup man. Adjust those toms though, flatten them out so you can get them closer together...like this....

Because bad tom angles lead to bad technique

Nice kit man, just keep playing around with the toms until they flatten out and don't point in as much. Looks way better than my kit when i first got it :P

Not necessarily. That could just be what you are used to if thats how you've been playing.
I've seen many pro drummers with angled toms.

^Yes but more than likely they arn't angled in that manner

Yes, many pro's may have angled toms, but that is probably how they are used to it. Why not get used to toms nice and flat, so they look and play better?

I think I just made my point.

sorry, let me re-phrase my last post.

What I meant was, those pro's have been playing for many years on angled toms. To revert back to flat toms would be a big change. For someone with a new kit, it would only take 1 day to get used to flat toms, which would be a benefit to their playing.

Sure.

But if professional drummers can do it, then its obviously ok to do. They can still play with the best of them. I just don't see it as something that important to tell someone in a forum to do. It's not a big deal.
The reason I think that YOU are saying it is because everyone else does.

i noticed a big difference in my playing when i flattened out my toms...it embraces rebound as well as makes the transition from one tom to the next easier...maybe YOU are saying it cuz your a little whiner who wants to stand out?

Angleing them towards you is all well and good. I am yet to see any pro angle their toms towards EACH other in the manner the threadstarter has ;) Think thats what vertigos trying to say

Plus angleing them aint good for your heads

^^lol
yeh

1) tom angles, as above
2) bring the ride round a bit, it looks hard to reach
3) bring the crash slightly higher, and round towards the front a bit more
4) move hats in

thats how i would like it, but dont do that if it doesnt feel comfortable

Flat toms/snare are ALOT easier to play rudements on...!!!

with the angles flatter, your heads will last TONS longer...with them angled in like that they'll dent way easier...trust me i know...

What's that finish?

all i would say is #1 make it to where you're comfortable

and i persoanlly(on cymbals) actaully tilt them away from me.. i've found i get sold crashes every hit now.. but i dunno just make it how you like it.

they may be solid but now theres a good chance your ruining your cymbals...

His tom angles aren't that bad, guys. I used to have a kit like that, and trust me, it's hard to adjust those toms so that they're both playable and fairly flat. He did a pretty damn good job.

Nice kit. :thumb:

If you flatten out your ride youll be able to get it in closer and it will be alot more comfortable to play. Only have a slight angle.

"Not necessarily. That could just be what you are used to if thats how you've been playing. "

Flat toms make it easier to have a good stroke. It's generally a good thing to do, for technique and sound, it does help. Can you do without? Yeah, sure, but it is easier.

I have a Ludwig Accent kit. I love it. Replace those stock heads when you can, I am using Evans G2s on top, and they are great. I also started with B8s, good cymbals to get going on.

Have fun, I sure have.
