Well, Im thinking of new heads for christmas and was pretty set on evans until I looked into aquarians a bit more. Just wondering what the equilavents are in aquarians for the following heads:

Powercentre Reverse Dot=?

Coated G2's= Response II's or Performance II's?

Clear G1's= Classic Clear

And Ive already made up my mind on my bass head which will be superkick II.

Also what is your opinion on the Hi-energy snare head. I like a nice crack with not alot of ringing. For toms, I like a nice low sound like classic rock but not as muffled as a pinstripe.

Any opinions on any of these heads or any other suggestions are also welcome. Im a bit confused as to what I want because I have heard aquarian heads are more deader than its equilvalent from Remo or Evans.\

Thanks!

Well I found the equilvalents on their website (duh!) but I would still like some opinions on the other things I mentioned.

I wouldnt reccomend them to my worst enemy... Im not kidding i've had the misfortune of using them.

Coated G2's would = Response 2's

Clear G1's = Classic clears

If your going aqurian I highly suggest one plys, they have a much thicker deader sound then any of the other heads on the market.

My suggestion would be.
Coated classic clears over classic clear resos (toms)

Super kick I with ebony or coated reso ported or non-ported your choice.

Classic coated snare batter over clear snare side.

I liked the Aquarians that I've used. They're nice. Just my local shop has alot more Remo and Evans in stock. I use an Aquarian Force I on my kick, though.

The satin finish texture coated snare head I've used was really nice. I'm pretty sure Aquarian heads have the best coating out of all the brands. Definitely go Coated or clear Response II over classic clear for your toms :thumb:

I'd suggest Classic Coated over Classic Clear, but whatever floats your boat, man.

Would Classic Coated over Classic Clear's sound the same as a coated g2 over g1 or coated emp over amb. That is the sound Im looking at.

No my man, you are looking for Response II's over Classic Clear.

To the guy above me, it'd sound like your typical 2-ply head combo. Used a lot in rock.

If you like a thick, dead sound, I'd reccomend them, but definitely not the High Energy Head. That is seriously one of the most dead and weak sounding heads I've ever heard. The only way to give it any tone is to crank it up very high.

Their one ply heads sound similar to a 2-ply head, their thick sounding.

Yeah, I love how people keep saying that they need a more durable snare head... most of the time their snares are just too low, no point in sacrificing tone for durability.

My snare has a Hi-Energy head on it (it came like that) and I like the sound, it's nice and fat. If I leave the e-ring off it has a good ring to it too.

Don't think I'd want them on my toms though.
