View Full Version : Top 100 Rock/Metal Vocalists: Round 2, Poll A
YDload
12-12-2005, 07:21 PM
Okay this is the first poll of five in the second round. Like all the polls this time, you're probably going to have a hard time choosing because all the best and/or favorite singers are lumped together. Here are the choices:
Freddie Mercury (Queen): Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin' world go round.
Maynard James Keenan (Tool): This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality.
Chuck Schuldiner (Death): I don't know.
Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam): Even flow, thoughts arrive like butterflies.
Axl Rose (Guns N Roses): Hello my name is Axl Rose and I am a butt ololololol
Eric Clapton (solo): Good guitar player, I don't know why anyone cares about his singing.
Matt Barlow (Iced Earth): It may have been a mistake putting him in with Halford, but otherwise he would have had to go up against Dickinson or Dio or all the other good metal singers.
Rob Halford (Judas Priest): Faster than a laser bullet, louder than an atom bomb.
Bob Dylan (solo): Poet of a generation, but his actual singing is largely incoherent and leaves much to be desired.
Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree): Always the summers are slipping away.
Okay that's all I got. Vote!

No way, next round is the final one. I'll leave it up to you to figure out how many are moving on ;)

It had to be Rob Halford for me; Mercury's probably gonna walk this, and he's great, but he's been dead for 14 years - Halford's been going since 74 and shows no sign of slowing down.
In terms of output and influence over that length of time, no-one else up there is really credible opposition.
That won't stop the Tool fanboys tho':smash:

Very, very true.
It kinda reminded me of when all the Maiden fans came together in the 'Iron Maiden vs Judas Priest' thread. All of them were saying "well Iron Maiden changed their style quite a bit" blah blah blah.
No Justice.
If Halford doesn't get through this round, I'm boycotting the vote.
Irrational? Of course!

That poll was pant-ola.
Almost every one of the Maiden fanboys said
"I've only heard one song by Priest, but I don't think they're as good, so it has to be Maiden...." well, forgive my correct spelling, punctuation and grammar, but it was something like that.
Maiden changed their style? Gimme a break. Compare Rocka Rolla with Painkiller - now that's a change of style.

You're not gonna get a straight answer for that, I've heard pretty much every single Death album stated as a favourite. Really, you can't go wrong.
Just remember that Scream Bloody Gore and Leprosy are still full fledged raw Death metal and the last one is a technical, jazzy, progressive metal album. (Sound of Perseverance). The ones in between are a progression towards that last one, all great, though.
Freddie Mercury (Queen) 52 28.11%

Not bad, but not as good as the original - the vocalist on which is also up there and not doing very well
People shouldn't try and cover that song, it doesn't need it, and they will fail.

I already did that in the first round. Everyone was given the opportunity to write something about a singer, but it's not my fault that some of the ones who weren't covered also happened to be singers I didn't care for.
But none of that matters because Axl DID have his own bio. I just didn't feel like copying it over, not for anyone else either.
