Does anyone know the exact effect of a shells depth (that is, the distance from the batter head to the resonant head).

I'm thinking that the deeper the shell the deeper the pitch, but this is based upon my simple generalization.

I'm wondering how it's different than diameter.
I'm curious if there are other variables like attack, decay, tuning range, etc that are affected by the depth of the shell.

diameter is where 90% of the pitch is focused

depth is the resonance, deeper = more resonance

Smaller depth = more attack/articulation/whatever you want to call it.
