Today my friend offered me some cymbals. A set of Sabian B8 Pro hats, and a Zildjian ZBT 18" China. He was saying around $75 to $100 (USD). Would this be any good of a deal? Also, I just got a Sabian AAXplosion Crash (18") for $129.99. Whats your opinion on that? Thanks.

Well the cymbals he offered you are no where near in the same league as your aaxplosion crash. What other cymbals do you have?

Old stuff that I HATE. I have an old pair of Rogers (by Paiste) hi hats, and a ride by the same Rogers company. Im looking to upgrade to better cymbals (which isnt that hard)
Also, I got the crash for $129.99. Good price or bad? I love it because I like lower cymbals.

That seems like a good price, for the aax that is.

They arn't very good cymbals that he is offering you. Is that price for both or for only one?

I think its usually ten dollars an inch on good quality cymbals such as Zildjian A but i don't know much about sabian except the fact that i use tosco (rather unknown) and B8s at my guitarist house for band practices =\

He said he'd give them both to me for some where in that range? Should I attempt to talk him down to a certain price? He had a drum kit with all Zildjian cymbals, but was given another kit for free that had cymbals. He wanted to keep his Zildjians, except the china because he got a better one (at least thats what he said). So he offered me the hats from the new kit and the china from his old. He also kept his Zildjian ZBT crash instead of a B8 Pro crash. I find the ZBT very high pitched.

ZBT and B8 cymbals suck. I would probally just save up and buy a nice pair of hats, then save up again and buy a nice ride then continue doing that untill I have all nice cymbals. There is no point in buying crap then just upgrading again.

Oh. Well I was at my friends dads studio playing on his drummers kit, and I found that I like the A custom mastersound hats. I looked them up and they are pretty expensive (at least because I dont have a job yet). Anyone have an opinion on them? Whats a good ride for stuff from classic rock to light metal? When I get a job I wont have a budget because Ill just save as long as I need to.

I have the A mastersounds and love them. Great wash, and a nice clean chick from them. Since you like those hats a lot and they are nice hats I would save up for them.

for a long time my friend had a cracked 18" zxt crash. so tonight i was visiting their band room and he has, gasp, an 18" zbt crash replacing it. hats and splash too.

the guy funding his stuff, the band 'manager' raves on and on about how expensive that kit was..export (nice golden laquer finish ill admit) elx fusion or something with p122 double pedal and a set of zxt/zbts and '$400' mics..raves on and on about this kit being the best ever. over $2500 spent, and i cannot successfully tell them that they got ripped off. their growing reputation as a local band makes it even harder to get past the arrogance..it makes me mad for some reason because hes been playing longer than me and is better but doesnt seem to know much about gear.. :(

Those hats are great... actually I just got them recently with 21" A Rock Ride

$300 for both.... Ok deal I guess...

US$300? That's a steal for a ride and a pair of hats, in Singapore that is. Definitely a steal. Wait. It's more than a steal. It's god's gift.

I wouldn't get either of those cymbals and save up for/go buy some NewBeats or Stage Hats or Sound Edges or K Custom Sessions or A Custom Mastersounds or K/Z Dyno Beats or HHX Groove Hats or Byzance Heavys...Don't get either of those cymbals.

maybe he should try out cymbals at a local music store... you cant just tell him not to get it... unless its that bad like a ZBT or ZXT

but for hats, Id recommend...
A Mastersounds
New Beats

Like what some people here say in which I also believe in...
its all personal preference....

offer him $50 as a sort of take it or leave it, if he declines, just save up. But they are the sort of cymbals you would be looking for to upgrade from your current cymbals, i really can't see a point in splashing loads on pro lines yet as (i'm assuming you have not been playing that long) you will not have devoloped an ear for good cymbals.

it really hinges on how long you have been playing imo

ask him how much he wants for just the china. i would leave the hats but if you can get the china for like $30 then i say go for it
