Line In Help

I have a line 6 spider II, and i just got a line in adaptor yesterday, and it works fine adn records fine, but as soon as i plug it into the "phones/direct out" jack, it mutes my amp, so i dont know if im playing what im playing right, if you know what i mean lol.

Is there anyway around this, thanks.

Use monitoring somewhere further down the line. What are you running into?

Set up monitoring in your software.

you can also grab a DI for around $30. Most have a parrallel output which you can use for monitoring, etc. Alternately, there are line signal splitters that do the same thing exclusively without sacrificing quality etc.

That's only if your soundcard is optimized for live monitoring.
