Last night was a drunken mess...... and today i regret it.........But yeah anyways The person that i pretty much learned the kit from told me he would sell me his 5 piece tama art star for 500$. I have never heard of these drums befor....he said they were pretty beat up...sooo that means a wicked project!!!!!! Has anyone heard of the Art Star series?? if so are these "pro quality"drums?

I used to have one. I had it for a day before a fire destroyed it. But it sounded really good.

I'm pretty sure Scott Travis from Judas priest uses the artstar....this information may or may not help you.

he may have used them a few years ago, he's on Starclassics now. but even Scott will tell you ~ he's not into equipment, he uses whatever Tama sends him.

he was talking about ebay, since he was talking about condition

who uses a certain kit is of no use to anyone. albums could be on different kits, and are always EQed so it doesnt sound like an artstar anyway. even live there is going to be some form of EQing. it also says nothing about quality as they will have pro players like portnoy in an ad for stagestars.

Artstars are nice, but those Yammies are much better. And both sets are great deals.

If you can swing it, get both honestly. If not, go Yamaha. Oak is a loud wood, they are great drums.

Back when tama was decent, im thankful everyday these are pre-starcast. The artstars are nice drums. Would I trade them out for yammies? OF course I would tama can cram it as far as im concerned.

I'd pick them up. The older Tama's are good drums :thumb:

i'd never been a fan of tama due to the simple thing that i don't like about pearl; they're mass produced and don't have artisans making them, just workers. this is all in my opinion, but what i've heard of yamaha and custom companies is that their staff love making drums and improving on them; which reflects in the quality of their work.
