Okay here are the names of all the singers/vocalists who made the cut:
Jack Bruce
Bruce Dickinson
Roger Daltrey
Axl Rose
Garm
Matt Bellamy
Mikael Akerfeldt
Rob Halford
Paul McCartney
David Bowie
Anthony Kiedis
Maynard James Keenan
Serj Tankian
Phil Anselmo
Ian Gillian
King Diamond
Chris Cornell
James LaBrie
Bon Scott
Brandon Boyd
George Harrison
Robert Plant
Layne Staley
Cedric Bixler
Russell Allen
Warrel Dane
David Gilmour
Geddy Lee
Stephen Wilson
Eric Clapton
Jon Anderson
James Hetfield

Mike Patton
Ronnie James Dio
Eddie Vedder
Dave Mustaine
Bob Dylan
Jim Morrison
Jeff Buckley
Matt Barlow
Trent Reznor
Freddie Mercury
Zach De La Rocha
John Lennon
Ozzy Osbourne
Chuck Schuldiner
Now the hardest part will be putting them into polls that don't have too many similar vocalists in them. Aaah! Okay discuss who should have made the cut, who didn't, or whatever you want...
(how the hell did Matt Bellamy beat Steven Tyler by one vote?! That sucks, Tyler is GOOD  )
Nice work once again, YD. Why Serj is in the Top 50 vocalists is beyond me, but hey, those damn voters, heh.
Lots of deserving vocalists, though, no lie.

Joacim Cans should have been in the polls since the start. He has better singing voice than probably 50% of vocals that did get in. :(
Serj is a great vocalist. It's not a suprise at all he is in top 50.

Okay well I divided them up into five groups of ten, but it wasn't easy and still isn't perfect. I just can't separate all the people who have similar vocal styles if there are more than five of them! Every poll is going to be met with posts of "HOW DARE YOU PUT _____ AND _____ IN THE SAME POLL YOU MONSTER HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DECIDE??!"
Fags.

For a while, I didn't see George Harrison on there, and I was thinking "Aw, crap."
I disagree with some things, like Bon Scott but no Neil Young (curse democracy.) A good, fairly well-rounded top 50 over all, IMO.
Well done so far on this, YDload.

Actually he is aweul, his voice sounds horrible in Kill em all and St. Anger.
But whatever, to each his own. To me it seems that so many singers didn't make the cut (like Myles Kennedy) but mediocre singers from good bands made it.

I think Maynard, Bon Scott, Eric Clapton, James Hetfield, Dave Mustaine, Bob Dylan, and Ozzy Osbourne are all worse than Serj. All of these guys are average and are known basically because they're in great bands. Well except dylan and clapton, who one is a great guitarist and other a great lyricist, but both are average vocally.
I agree with the guy above, myles kennedy is a great singer. Myles didn't even get into top 100. :upset:

Corey Taylor sucks, and I'm incredibly relieved that the army of Maggots could not be bothered to vote for him en masse. Also, I'm not sure why you're comparing him to De La Rocha, who is at the very least a superior rapper to Taylor. What makes you think someone has to have done something for them to be talented? This poll isn't based on influence.
I noticed you voted for Tarja Turineen in one of the polls. She's a great vocalist (I think I voted for her), but what exactly has she done for music? Trained as an opera singer, sang in a metal band and got kicked out because she's an egotistical money whore? Money whores belong in pop and shouldn't disgrace metal.

No, you've misunderstood. I'm not saying she shouldn't be here (I voted for her). The point is that the other guy is basing this poll entirely on influence/accomplishment and what the musician has done for music, yet he voted for Tarja. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with rich musicians. But if you have a look at http://www.nightwish.com/english/lettertotarjaen.html, it shows that she has the skills of an opera/metal vocalist, but the demands of a MTV pop musician. She cares more about money/everything else than music. That is not very respectable for a musician.
It's a shame Keidis wont do very well. He's a fantastic singer, but doesn't get the respect he deserves.
Indeed it's a shame. Most people here mentally overload when a technically untalented singer is respected. Kiedis isn't very technical, but plainly, he sounds good. He has a great voice.

I'm fully aware of her apparent diva behaviour (most folk here will know me as an ardent NW fan) and if it's all true it diminishes her in my eyes too, but the fact remains that her accomplishments in her time with NW were laudable, and the influence her vocal style has had in the metal world is considerable - who sang in that style before 1997? And how many bands has NW and Tarja inspired since then?
Money grabbing diva and easlily influenced by certain people she may be, but her talent and influence remain worthy of recognition.

Yeah, I guess: her influence>her pop mentality, so I guess it wasn't that ironic that 'lost profits' voted for her.

Especially now that she's hit the self-destruct button on her career - I don't see her influence going any further now, not with her solo material...
Tarja - bright star to falling star in a few years.
RIP.
Look what you've done, Marcello.

Add me to the list of people who are disappointed Tarja didnt make it... this contest was always going to be won by the fanboys but i thought a decent number would still take it seriously...

The list has some good and even great singers in it, don't get your knickers in a twist.

What bands have been influenced by nightwish and Tarja?
From what I hear, Europe has had a surge of symphonic bands since Nightwish became big. They've inspired people.

What bands have been influenced by nightwish and Tarja?
Oooh, let me see...
After Forever - released first album in 2000
Lunatica - formed in 98, but got a female singer in 01
Lacuna Coil and Within Temptation formed around the same time as Nightwish but I'm sure there has been a bit of cross-fertilization of ideas etc.
As I said in my post, how many successful female-fronted goth/metal bands were there before 1997? And how many now?
Yet none got represented in these poll results. Shame.

Indeed it's a shame. Most people here mentally overload when a technically untalented singer is respected. Kiedis isn't very technical, but plainly, he sounds good. He has a great voice.
eh, in your opinion he sounds good. quite frankly, to me, he sounds like he's straining all the time. it sounds like he's trying to sing out of his range.
anyone want to hear ian gillan's version of gethsemane off of jesus christ superstar? im fully willing to upload it if some people want it.

Yeah, possibly a bit. I'm ok with that as long as I don't see heads exploding when Kiedis gets a lot of votes (as has already happened).
when will the new polls be up?

Yeah, I'd love it.
I'm rather sore about the lack of Janis, Tarja, and Jeff (Tate.) Still, it turned out pretty well overall.

Right, it's a vocal ability poll.
If its a vocal ability poll, how did people like Ozzy and Robert plant get in?

What bands have been influenced by nightwish and Tarja?
