since then ive collected more albums and i think they're really great.

i think its cool how i first heard them. i was watching "the end", the birdhouse skateboarding movie and one song came on. i think it was walk among us but i am most likely wrong. i loved the tempo and the sound. so i checked them out

He really is. Both he and Danzig are actually inspirations to me as a singer.

the misfits showed that punk doesnt always have to be about politocs and social stuff, you can go elsewhere to hear that. And i also think that the misfits are most known about just having fun with their music. And when did punk have to always talk about politics, I thought punk was a genre where even if you can barely play your instruments and only play 4 chords, you can still rock out? Branching off into other sub-genres, most folk punk is very talented, thrash guitarists are generally very good. Grind has awesome drums most of the time, and in ska the horns are generally pretty good.

I saw the Misfits the other night...I wasnt sure what to expect from them considering all the **** people put on the currnent line up...all I can say was that I was blown away. Well to be more precise, I was blown away by Jerry. The energy and passion he puts into the show is amazing. And hes a pretty nice guy too, taking the time to sign everyones stuff.

Dez and Robo can get effed as far as I'm cocnerned though :p

There's worse things he can do than tour the country playing relatively small shows and sell a whole load of merchandise to a willing public. I'd call selling out if he released a markedly more poppy album in order to pull in that Hot Topic audience, but that's just me. If Misfits fans are willing to pay for Misfits lighters and pencil cases, then they're idiots but it's not Jerry Only's fault.

It has nothing to do with capitalism. I'm not positive but I would have to guess that the original Misfits were around to spread their music and money was not one of huge factors in what they were doing. Clearly, now it is. It has to do with keeping their ideals and getting rid of them and clearly they did not keep their ideals. They are sell outs.

How are they not spreading the music? People are more aware of the band than ever. The fiend skull is everywhere, meaning more people look into the music because they want to know what the big deal is.

Well like I said, if Jerry wanted to make lots of money he'd make a new album. There's worse things he can do than tour the country playing relatively small shows and sell a whole load of merchandise to a willing public. I'd call selling out if he released a markedly more poppy album in order to pull in that Hot Topic audience, but that's just me. If Misfits fans are willing to pay for Misfits lighters and pencil cases, then they're idiots but it's not Jerry Only's fault.

And yet the only evidence you have to support the diagnosis is that lots of people like to buy their merchandise. Unless you count having a really cool logo that looks great on wallets and t-shirts alike, I don't think you have a point.

Quoted for truth. Merchandise is created because people want it. If people want you to slap your logo on the *** of a pair of jeans, don't argue.

Selling shoes that these faux punker/goth kids will eat up with the Misfits logo at Hot Topic is Jerry Only trying to make money.

That's what makes the economy work. A lot of comic artists have moved online and retain all the merchandising rights to their art. Probably because although hyper-idealized artistic integrity is great, that alone won't pay the bills.

Personally, I think Danzig did his best work solo. His voice was far too untrained in The Misfits and he didn't have time to build up a lot of strength until Earth A.D..

Graves had some problems live in the beginning, but he improved very quickly in a short amount of time. He had to learn a lot of breath control techniques because of his manic stage moves.
