Anyway, I've pre-ordered RE4, looks promising. As a side note I'd like to say EB gives out the worst promos ever. I bought a GC controller from there the other day and they gave me what I thought was a RE4 demo (due the RE4 picture cover) which later turned out to be a promo for the RE movie soundtrack (I also felt stupid later after I remembered the disc size difference). It made me very sad....and no one likes a sad incognito.

p.s - Get both systems, will solve your gaming needs and will eliminate the need for a smuck-box.

Gamecubes are really cheap now, especially if you live in Europe. I'd say if you were going to buy one, now would be the best time to. 2005 looks like it'll be the Gamecube's best year. Zelda and Resident Evil 4 will surely be candidates for GotY.

Um, all of the main RE games are action games in the survival horror genre. Just because the game is in full 3d doesnt change the genre of the game. im sure its gonna be scary as hell. :thumb:

All I gotta say is it's one of the best games I've ever played. The game isn't as "scary" as the reviews make it out to be but nothing has been taken from the fun factor. In the first level of the game in the town of Pueblos (I think) there are so many scenario's of action that if you play through it 40 times it'd probably still be different. It's actually what I've done because that dude with the chain saw... BAD NEWS. I think it's just amazing how open a game like this is, where you could baricade windows, doors, knock out ladders. The AI isn't brain dead and is actually COMING TO KILL. The "villagers" bash through windows, doors and use ladders to get to second stories windows. If you think you're safe climbing a clock tower next thing you know, you're getting fire bombed by molotov cocktails. When the chain saw guy killed me for the first time it scared the crap out of me, because he came up behind me and just slashed my head off.

If you have a GC it shouldn't even be questioned. It's obviously the game that keeps GameCube alive somewhat... and thats sad to say because the game is just amazing.

It's just the thing that makes the game scary is everything is SO UNPREDICTABLE. In one scenario the freaking dude with a chain door came CRASHING through the window and ran behind me and pretty much clotheslined me with the chain saw. In another "game over (retry)" he basically climbed a ladder and through a window threw the chain saw in my face. Then I tried jumping out the window and running into the opposite house and as I was moving a "dresser" to the door to baricade it all of a sudden I hear a rumble and he STOPPED me, pushing the dresser back and then slashing my head off.

There's no use in buying a strat guide for this game because, it's pretty unpredictable.

I agree. I picked up this game today, and it was better than I thought it was going to be. It also has some RPG elements but I'll let the player get to that part but.

So far I haven't been "scared" yet, but I think once night falls I will. :thumb:

The sound really is amazing. It doesn't even feel like your playing Resident Evil anymore because of the new Camera Angle, it's much better.

People are complaining about how there aren't really zombies anymore and thats understandable since the zombies were slow meat shields but these villagers are pretty challenging at times in numbers. They run at you, throw there weapons at you, grab you from behind until you have to shake them off and are pretty tough to beat. What I don't understand is since they are "villagers" how come a shot to the face only staggers them backwards? Even though some headshots are the most satisfying thing in the game. They really didn't leave the gore out in this one...

Also does anyone know what language the villagers speak in the game?

There's plenty of mature titles on Gamecube.

And I think the villagers speak a twisted form of Spanish.

Oh yeah there is more, I'm sure I'm still progressing through the game.

Just to share some stories the first encounter with the chainsaw guy was pretty panic for me. Things just seemed very unexpected....

Another time I got semi freaked was when I stepped on a bear trap for the first time because all I felt was a loud rumble and had no idea what had happened.

I like how this game goes in a different direction from the other Resident Evil game's.

I want to get this game, I haven't been a big fan of RE games because of the camera angles and wierd controls, but this game is so amazing and revolutionary compared to the other RE games... I just hope I manage to get enough money soon enough to buy it.

And when he lunges at you with it, he like screams at the top of his lungs, and theres also 2 other villagers to deal with as he runs at you. The first time I saw the chainsaw guy, I just let him cut my head off because I wanted to see what it looked like. Awesome.

The guys that throw dynamite at you are cool because if you shoot the dynamite when its in their hand, it explodes them and everything around it. :thumb:

and to the person who said capcom=sellout, wtf? So a company decides to move a franchise to a different system, that makes them a sellout? Get a job and buy a GC or sulk and wait for your PS2 version which will most likely be inferior. Long loading times and inferior graphics, yum. I know it has nothing to do with the actual thread but i just think its pointless people always going on about whats the best. If you apply simple logic the gamecube has the least develpors for it the x box is a close second and the ps 2 has the most. Power wise the ps 2 is like trying to play halo 2 in a cd player the game cube is very nice but the x box is the best and then for just plain coolness of the console the x box comes last ps2 a close second and the gamecube first. All im trying to say if they were all combined it would be brilliant. :thumb:

Finally, I got to play this game last night. I have to say, it is probably one of the funnest games I have ever engaged. It's completely freaking, I love the new combat system, and Leon Kennedy is the freaking man.

Well, I just started playing it and I can already tell this game is going to be fantastic. I really love the atmosphere. Capcom really went to extreme lengths to ensure the gameplay, graphics, and music were top-notch and it shows.

A good idea is to go around the left passage, push the Z button to check the map for this. Eventually you're going to be spotted anyway, so your best bet is to aim carefully. After you kill a certain number of villagers, a cut-scene will advance the story. :thumb:


Another good idea is to attack them from a distance. Attack as much as you can and then run away, reload (R+B if you didnt know yet), then squeeze off a few more rounds till they get close, then run again until you down enough. Also, incendiary and frag grenades are your friend on this part. :thumb:

I just played the game for the past 3 days straight pratically. I love the game and all but it just gets repetive and the story seems to be moving extremely slowy. But other than that I love this game. The castle is ****ing awesome. Though, it doesnt seem like an RE game sometimes I still think its a step in the right direction for the series. Capcom did an awesome job with this one. Now I just cant wait until Devil May Cry 3 comes out. The trailer for that kicks so much ***.

I played the game today at my cousin's place. It's amazing.

The ennemies are much more intelligent than I thought they would be, and the level design is so cool. Theres so many different ways to deal with the villagers at the beginning. I love how you can grab a shotgun from inside a building, blast a few deranged villagers trying to get in through the door, run upstairs, jump out of a window and land on the roof, and then fend off the wave of villagers as they try to kill you.

It's just so cool...
The castle area is really cool, too. My cousin is at the same place is Incognito is.

Trust me, if you played the game for even 10 minutes, you'll realize that this game is so much more engrossing and fun than any other RE game. The zombies are gone (sorta), but the new ennemies that I've encountered so far (crazed Spanish villagers, evil monks, just to name a few) are so much cooler and make the game so much more interesting than zombies ever could.

It's not like the zombies would chase you into cabins and onto roofs while trying to impale you with pitchforks or throw knives at you.

Now the only thing similar about RE4 is that you get to play Leon. I can see what they are doing. Now ignoring that glaring stupidy, Why is it, that no-one knows what has happened Racoon CITY aside from him?
It's not like crazy zombies just ate everyone 10 minutes prior to his arrival, and it's not like cities are frequented on a decent basis by mail, deliveries, phonecalls, tourists, passers by e.t.c.

Of course though, it's all very sensible for us to assume that no-one has noticed at all, not the people delivering mail to the post office, not the relatives of people in the city who can't get calls through, not the people sending and receiving deliveries from the city, not the people who wonder why the streets are full of dead people e.t.c.

We can quite rightly assume that Mr.Postman will have thought "Ok, seen as everyone is dead, I think I may turn around and inform someone"
However capcoms story writers decided to settle for, "Oh, I'll just deliver the post instead"

Sorry, I just hated the story for RE2, I also hated the story for the very first gamecube one.
Like a trained SWAT-esque team with pistols and machine guns couldn't handle 6 dogs, pussies.

Go watch the cutscene, after you laugh at how people trained to clear buildings of hostage taking bad guys ***** away from dogs, notice how whilst your character arrives in the house, maybe 10 seconds after the others?
Characters have managed to go through the mansion, solve multiple puzzles, gather items required to make it through and gotten themselves trapped, in 10 seconds.
Pity, cause it takes you that long to work out that zombies are around.

As you can tell, RE isn't my cup of tea, I enjoyed knife fighting the zombies, but the lack of two gangsta rap 9mm's turned me off, and the unforgiving save feature got to me, as did the oh so vexing every level in a closed space scenario.
The new one sounds good though, and sounds like it actually has a decent story line.

Scarier than the chainsaw guy. These are the ones that seem like regular villagers, so you go to blow their heads off. When you do, however, this extremely freaky tentacle-head comes out and can kill you almost instantly.

Yea, once you beat it, don't waste your time on the infinite rocket launcher, beat assignment ada and get the chicago typewriter first, far better buy for a cool 1 mil.

I just got this game recently and am on Part 3 of Chapter 1. So far the game is pretty sweet. I had a lot of trouble in the beginning though. I got owned by the guy with the chainsaw twice in a row. He would just kill me in one hit.

Best boss fight ever.

It was so much fun just hunting him down, avoiding his shots.

I was dissapointed though at the last part when all you had to do was cut him once.

I liked the little cinematic cutscene where you fought him with the action buttons.

Alright, note how he is blind, when you shot the bells he will freak out and run at the bell and embed his claw in the wall making him stuck.

Now note, he has a giant plaga sticking out of his back, while he's stcuk pop that bad boy and repeat the process.

Since there are only 2 bells at this point you can only do that twice but, that's not enough to kill him. After you used the bells try to keep him in your field of vision without making any noise so he knows where you are. You can do 2 things now, either:

A) what till you get a clear shot of his back and pop him then, but be careful cause he tends to freak out and swing his claws everywhere

OR

B) after wandering for a bit he'll randomly charge in a direction and stick his claw into a wall again, making him stuck, making him easy target

He's not that bad, and get used to him, you got 3 more later on in the game to deal with. :p

All you have to do is walk around so his back is facing you then pop him. Walking doesn't alert him, but running does so. Also, when your at the top of the steps, tell her to wait so she doesn't get caught in his spontaneous bursts of swinging.

Did you know you can "equip" the eggs you pick up? No lie. I just went around collecting eggs and chucking them at villagers. Quite fun actually.

Ok, I'll try to help out...

In mercenaries the easiest level for me is probably the village. The point is to kill, kill, kill. The more people you kill in a row, the better (notice the number in the upper right corner). Once I killed 30 some people in a row and got a 20,000 point bonus (I think). The point is, kill a lot in a row, and reap the benefits.

Don't waste your grenades!! When they trap you, flash em! If a clump is feet from you, throw something! You start with leon and he has, what one grenade? Don't be afraid to use it, but don't get scared if several guys are rushing you. Shoot their legs.

In the village there is a barn... AN AWESOME BARN! Spend a nice chunk of time running around finding those yellow clocks. They extend your killing time. The clocks in the treasure chests give you a 1,000 point bonus for each kill for 30 seconds (I think 30). As you get time extensions, shoot barrels... they ALWAYS have SOMETHING in them, whether it's ammo, health, or grenades.

Once you have ammo, grenades, time, and hopefully some kills, find a barn... I can't tell you exactly where it is in the village, but there is a barn. It's 2 story's and the best place. Once you find it (it's not hidden or anything) climb the ladder and knock it down, it's the only way they can hurt you... well maybe those bomb guys can throw one up at you, but it hasnt happened to me. Once you are up there, the people will come at you, once the room is filled, get the treasure chest bonus and throw a grenade or 2... plus there is an explosion barrel. Remember, keep knocking down the ladder so they can't get you.

The target score is 30,000 for a new person and 60,000 for 5 stars.

When you start in the building, run out of it and stand on that platform. When you're on that, the enemies will only come from right in front of you and I don't think the chainsaw guy comes while you're there. So I would just stay there for a while and get a nice combo going.

If you see the chainsaw guy, really just run and shoot. Use your most powerful weapon.

I think Krausers bow usually stops him in a hit or two.

El Gigante? He's just one of the many beasts they've created from the Las Plagas parasite. At least that's what I think he is.

I haven't beaten the game yet, I just beat Chapter 4-2. The last two chapters have been awesome. I spent like half an hour trying to see if I could kill both El Gigantes by opening up the lava pit, but I don't think you can. Also, Those flying insect guys are a pain in the @ss.

The bugs are in the EXACT same place everytime. You can even see them if you really look hard. It looks like.... I don't know, but you can tell. And good ole' snippy takes em out in one hit usually, even on pro mode.

And if you have gotten to the room with the cages, just run in the room, get one to follow you, then run out and wait till it gets to the door then boom boom.

Go for the legs and pop them while they're down. If they have a stick of dynamite in their hand when they die it will blow them, and any surrounding enimies to bits.

It is very good. And definately a must buy for sure. If you like Resident Evil then you're going to absolutely fall in love with this game, and even people who don't enjoy RE will like it because there is more action, and the controls have improved ALOT. Plus there are RPG elements to the game as well, not to mention the impressive graphics. Iunno, I haven't talked to anyone who didn't like it or found it to be overrated. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Yea, the camera fixed behind Leon is much better than fixed camera in every room. Being able to buy new weapons and upgrade is a very nice touch, keeps freshening things up. The graphics speak for themselves and well, beat it and do the last level is merc. to see the GIANT chainsaw dudes with twin bladed chainsaws, they ARE badass! Yea for anyone who hasen't played merc. but is having trouble with the prison bosses, have fun with the giant badass twin bladed chainsaw dude.... :p

I just bought the wind waker and was dissappointed at first, but a stuck with it and it has payed off, I'm really having fun with it now.

Hint for those who need to conserve ammo:

If you see an enemy, shoot his knee! He will fall to his knees (when you hit him just right) then suplex him. Usually a couple suplexes kills a guy, maybe one depending on how much damage.

This is what I do when I see one enemy. Shoot his knee, suplex, slash him while he is on the ground, rinse and repeat until dead. It takes two, maybe three bullets to kill
him with the suplexing and slashing.

And if there is a couple guys, take out their legs so they are on the ground, run up close, point at their heads with a shoot gun, and boom.

I always just killed Iron Maidens by taking out all of their visible plagas and then giving them a few extra shots to the chest. Rifle bullets go through targets so if you shoot the front, you can get the one in back. You just miss a couple times more.

That's how I felt, but now I'm a too big wuss to play it. I mean, if those regenerators appeared in the castle or the village it wouldn't be so bad, but this lab-scenario makes it really scary. I often had nightmares about labs as a kid and that's not a good thing either...
But wtf, I'm just about to take a ride to a friend of mine to beat the crap out of those guys!

Ok guys, I just beat the game! Those Refridgerators weren't so bad after all!
Took me 13 hours and I think the endboss was kinda lame. Krauser was way cooler to fight.
Great game anyway, not hyped and worth the money!

I found Resident Evil 4 at my local video game store for $40.00 used. I have $25.00. I wish I got more for allowance. But, in 2 weeks I'm getting it for sure. $10.00 a week for allowance will have to do. Just don't start making me going insane wanting this game. I wanted to walk out of the store with it today. The I realized the case was empty. But, I'm buying it so that's all that matters!

The first knife fight with Krauser was CRAZY FUN. I remember I was up playing this game at 11:00 and I was so tired and my reflexes were so bad..

Now I just got done playing as Ashley and found a way back to Leon. Kinda funny thing is at the puzzle, I almost gave up and just randomly pressed the blocks to move around and then it's the actual Family Crest I needed to get out, so I placed the stone tablet and got chased by those Knight guys.

I have that retro 9mm with a stock on it, Riot Shotgun, Semi-Auto .223 rifle, that funky Mine Launcher thingy and 6 grenades. Good thing I have that XL attache case.

It's break time cause the news is on and I can play RE 4 in the living room on the big TV:thumb:

Okay, this time I'm in the Mines, last thing I remember is hopping on the cart riding down to the end and using that Riot Shotgun to blast away those insane villagers.

El Gigantes are so annoying, it's a good thing you can use that machine to open a trap door in the smelter to at least kill off one of those two. I had practically zero health for the longest time because he stepped on me and kicked me, I killed him off trading between using one mine, .223, shotgun, and the Red9.

I got it on sunday. Beat it today. It's an amazing game. Love the bit when you're surrounded in the cabin.
Spent about an hour to beat Crowser (sp?) on top of the tower today before finding the perfect way to kill him. Didn't fire a single shot.

There were so mant points when I thought 'oh, this looks like the end of the game!' only for something to go wrong and result in another rescue misiion.

Resdient Evil 4 is the ****. My friend has it and the game just blew my mind. Everything about it rocks. The only annoying thing is the constant muttering of those ****ing monks.

I kept running out of bullets and I had to use my knife to kill everyone then they would pick me up and I wuold try to kick them and they would throw me to the ground. I finally got by that part after dying 5 times...It's a hard game and it's scary. I don't think I'm going to play it when I'm homealone again.

yeah, this game definitely kicks major arse. i've already played it thru 3 times :cool: ... you can see how much of a life i have. all the little extra games are hard though, and i want the special guns that you get for beating them!! :upset: i have no patience for that... plus it's starting to get kind of old now... the novelty is wearing off. (playing through it 3 times will do that to you)
