They're alright, but I think they're a bit overrated. I still listen to them once in a while though.

Bleed America sucks.

I never thought of them as funky. More like alternative.

On a more serious note, I like them. Their older stuff is great. Except for that 16 minute song that after the tenth is just the same riff over and over again.

Actually, its after about the 4th minute in that song (goodbye sky harbor) that the riff loops. And its not perfectly looping, since more voice tracks saying differnt types of 'oohs' come in, and later on, a drum machine takes over and it goes all electro.

The only album i own from them is 'clarity'. A few of the songs on it are good, but some of it is just boring. I actually think that 16 minute song is the best on it, even though i shut it off after the singing stops. The 'Seeeeeee, Yooooooooou' part almost had me in tears once.

I don't mind Futures.

Haven't heard much else.

I own one of their EP's... it's ok.

"The Middle" gets stuck in my head sometimes, although I haven't heard it in years.

Bleed American is a great album. I don't care what anyone says.

It was much more poppy then what I expected, and felt it just dragged on with the same stuff over and over again. The two singles off it, Sweetness and The Middle, are the two songs that I like off it. Pain off Futures is also a pretty cool track.

They're good. I'd say "The Middle" is pretty much the first song I heard by 'em. Of course then again that was when I was a littleish kid and listened to the stupid radio on the bus and that would come on.

I really like them. I have The Singles Collection/Jebidiah And Jimmy Eat World Split, Static Prevails, Clarity, Bleed America and Futures. They're a great band. I also have some covers - FireStarter is really good.

Clarity is one of the best albums of the 90's, easily. They are a great band, however I think they are the opposite of overated. I haven't heard a thing about them since the release of Futures, no videos or anything. Are they touring in America or something?

I saw them here in March here this year, and they had a great energy. They aren't really the kind of band you mosh to, I was just enjoying all the music. Of course, going crazy for songs like "Nothingwrong" and "The Authority Song" is a must.

Owch they're depressing. But not emo.

Are they always like that? Not my kinda thing.

From that site, I'm agreeing with the snoresnoresnore of Dan

They have some non-depressing songs such as Pain and Salt, sweat, sugar.

Well, I guess pain is depressing, but the sound of the song isn't.

They're my favorite band. My favorite song is probably 23. I wouldn't say they're overrated, considering I never hear anybody talk about Static Prevails. That record is the most overlooked records by fans and everyone. If you haven't heard it, I recommend you listen to "Anderson Mesa", "Episode IV", "Call it in the Air", all of the songs are good.

i think it's usually overlooked because Tom sings on it and not Jim. Most people are used to and prefer Jim's vocals

I think it's because Green Day was playing after them and I was restless. If they'd played a more intimate show (without Green Day) it would've been awesome.

They supported at Green Day's shows at Milton Keynes (with Taking Back Sunday, and a crap band called Hard Fi). That was a great gig, it's the one from Bullet In A Bible.

In other news, I managed to buy Stay On My Side Tonight today. My HMV had 3 imported cd's of it, so I bought it straight away. Disintergration sounds so much better through my big hi-fi system. You don't feel the full effect of songs when they are playing through my laptop's built in speakers.

Futures is actually an amazing album.
All of their major label releases are amazing.
They weren't so good back in the days of the first self titled album, the Orangewood demo's, or any of the songs before Static Prevails.

If anyone hasn't really listened to them much, I can send you a YSI link to my favourites of their slow songs, and I have also made one for their faster songs, for the band whoreage thread.

The UK version is especially good because it includes When I Want and Shame, but the second half is also amazing.
23, Night Drive, Nothing Wrong, Polaris, Drugs Or Me and Pain.
True though, the first half has some better songs, mainly Work, Kill and The World You Love.

Good to see Jimmy getting love from the UK. I thought they were really big in America, obviously I'm mistaken looking at the size of this thread. Oh well the fact that they aren't so popular makes them more special to me.

The main reason why I rank them as my fave band is because out of their entire catalogue there's only about 2 songs I don't like. I can't say that about any other band. These guys really know how to write a good tune.
