i have a ludwig accent custom elite with floating toms but they are on this thins like an half-moon's border

on this thing there's a bracket (is the same but in different views)
http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/9051/pc0800725ts.th.jpg (http://img519.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pc0800725ts.jpg)
this is bracket of the birch classic http://www.music123.com/Ludwig-P7185AP-Elite-Tom-Bracket-i124152.music

And it's causes me problems when I want to tune it so I was wondering if it was a good idea to take it off and put the bracket directly on the tom (like the Ludwig Birch Classic) by doing this, (this bracket is a bit heavy by the way, not heavy as hell but a bit heavy in realtion with its size)
http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/5715/pc0800812uj.th.jpg (http://img519.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pc0800812uj.jpg)

SO THE QUESTION IS, CAN THIS AFFECT TERRIBLY TO THE TOM RESONANCE AND SOUND (IS A 13"X11" AND THE OTHER 12"X10") BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE TO MAKE TWO HOLES ON THE TOM. THEN IS IT GOING TO SOUND LIKE SH IT?? :( THAT'S MY BIGGEST FEAR OTHERWISE I'LL DO IT, THNX

*Sorry about my english, hehe

No, you probably won't be able to notice the difference if you put the mount directly on the shell.

Thugsrook did this with his Tama kit, so he can probably offer up some good advice.

yea a couple of us TAMA owners have done this to our toms, its pretty easy and works just fine :thumb:

you probably wont notice any difference in sound at all.

also, im pretty sure you can remove the bracket from the floating mount, and reuse it on your shell.

that's what I thought but i thinks it is a bit heavy, is it going to a problem?
and any recomendations when making the holes, the finish is high gloss :s

itll handle the weight just fine.

place masking tape on your shell before drawing lines on it ;)
take your time, drill with light pressure, start with a small drill bit and work your way up in size.
