Heh, I thought it would be fun to mock the maling lists a bit (just cause their have been so much of em :p but here comes big one three. Det Nosnip made a suggestion that I stop rushing through the articles and focus on the lyrics more so that's what I'm going to try out. As you can see I'm making my poll a little different I'm going to ask if you would like me to keep my series as I'm doing now or the old way. Anyways, here's Nevermore's debut. We will be looking off their self-titled album, the song is entitled "Garden of gray" and another new change is I'm going to post all of the lyrics so you can have a better understanding.
When the moon is high across the garden
That's when I'll come to you
When the nightshade blooms in your eyes
Let my sin pour in you
When the forest sings like an angel's choir
I'm coming nearer
I want to feel your flesh enrapture me
And live the politics of ecstasy
In the garden there is no fear
In the garden of gray we can disappear
In the garden where I can feel
In the garden, to touch you is so surreal
If the moon should pour out of the sky
And fill your livid pools
If you lay your hands on me gently
You won't be misconstrued
When you feel the shiver of lust grow deeper
I'm coming for you
I want to feel my senses sing to me
You are the music in my ecstasy
I want to love you in the garden of gray
Where we can stop the time and drink the ecstasy
And when it's done, just traces of the glow
The sparkle in your eyes is ecstasy
"The sparle in your eyes is ecstasy" Wow that's a great line. To be able to really appreciate any lyrics you have to paint your own picture of what you think the image is or what it represents, their is no actually meaning to a lot of lyrics, some artists just use them for expression and gratification. "I want yo feel my senses sing to me you are the music in my ecstasy" that line can grasp a whole song into meaning, that can sum up all the lyrics into this song. For the first time in my series I am going to ask you a question. When you read "Garden of Grey" what do you picture? Do you see mystical Moors and beautiful scenery or do you see just the ecstasy of of life, many different views can be portrayed in single lines and whole storys, my question to you is what do you see?
Their is no wrong answer in my question, what you see is how you view certain lyrics, by indentifying what type of lyrics modivate you can make you reach A certain high that nothing else in life can give you. In this song the lyricist is painting a beautiful of these two people meeting in this so called "enchanted" forest or it may also be tranformed into a metaphor like many other songs that we have viewed. My overall point to you is that each lyric/song/story can modivate you an a different way, or it could also give you a certain high.
Now I will bring you onto another song off the same album, the song is entitled "god money"
Hey, just what have you become
With a cash vindication
Do you think that buys salvation's end?
Do you see through me?
I'm the plastic face on you screen
Mind control
They say that we're in the final days
Religion is power
Because most of us feel like rats in a maze
Do you worship me?
I'm a bastard saint, I'm a sycophant
A parasite that lives for just one goal
Mind control
Send your money to Jesus Christ
Mail order your eternal life
Bend your mind, make you turn around
Don't believe it when they tell you
That eveng god needs money
God needs money from you
Shame can't even make them learn
They feed off the weak
And if there's a hell they're gonna burn
On your screen they worship me
I'm a bastard saint, I'm a sycophant
A parasite that lives for just one goal
Mind control
Hey, just what have you become
With a cash vindication
Do you think thy buys salvation's end?
Do you see worship me?
I'm a bastard saint of the color green
As you may see that these meanings may be kind of clear, but they also represent a sin of the Christian Religion, I'm not saying at all that they have anything to do with it but, greed is a very very common problem that we have people have lost touch with reality over this currency that we worship. "A parasite that lives for just one goal...Mind control" this line speaks very loudly due to the fact that it is quite clear. But by reading these lyrics we can find so much more things aside from money that are important. Everybody knows that money is great...we all love having it but when it comes to be a problem you can either have to much or to little, that's where we get these problems to occur. For example I know this is kind of far out but this is a good example. I bet all of you Americans have seen the show Cribs correct? well I have seen the show hundreds of times and everytime I watch it, it always makes me want more money, more items, better things, a better life but once I touch back with my reality I know that I don't need this stuff to become a mature wealthy and happy person.
It is a very common miscumseption that we need money to have a good family and be happy but It's NOT, and that's what this song really points out. Many people have been painted this shade of green because their life is revolved around money. That's what's great about these lyrics, they point out very common probles that we deal with except they deal with them in a more musical way, that provides things that relaite to teenagers.
Ok here's my counceling pitch for the day. Following the greed lyrics I have made this program that has helped me through life and I hope this will help you to (before you judge, I know this is really strange and I'm a little out their on this but I'm just trying to help you through these lyrics. What are you most inportant things to you? lets call the most important things to you "Big rocks" what are the things that you find time for but aren't the most important things in your life? we'll lable these things "medium rocks". Now for the last one, what are the things that take up some of your time that you enjoy doing.(like the computer, TV, the mall etc etc)
Ok now that we have all of your priorities set, now picture a bucket...a rather large one (like a 5 gallon bucket) if you put to much of you "water AKA fun stuff you won't have time for your bigger rocks (like school, family). Now these lyrics really have a strong standpoint in this subject, greed shouldn't be that big of problem for you (if you are around the age of 14-17) you should be concentrating to the bigger rocks, the overall point I am trying to make is that these lyrics speak ver very much of this subject, I know thise was really out their but I was just tryiung to see what you guys thought. Now for the writeup.
