i wouldnt call them heavy rock, maybe alternative. i dont really know how to describe them, but their guitar does the craziest lines i have every heard. and he sings while playing them, which makes him even better. they do crazy things with their time signatures also, just weird but awesome sounding breaks and such. gimme a sec ill try to get a link up.

fall of troy came to my hometown a few months ago with chiodos.
it was probably the most impressive small show i've seen.

Mediocre and way overrated.
try telling that to the kids where i live :p
i liked them live, and would probably go if they came back around again. but i would have to agree with you for the most part, as most of the music crowd in my town consider them music gods.

I agree. They're really repetitive and the pulloffs don't impress me.

They impress me. Do you play guitar? I memorized "Rockstar Nailbomb" the other day and it hurts a bit to do for a while. Then again, my action is pretty high.
It's cute to see a hardcore/emo thread in r&m.

Had to bring them back as they've just released their new album and all that...
Opinions now?
I bloody love 'em. Saw them at the Camden Barfly (London) on Monday. Twas the best show i've ever seen. And they're my favourite band at the mo...:)

My favorite band...they definitely stand out in a fairly repetitive genre.
edit: new album...? You mean the one that's been out for the majority of a year?

Aside from being overrated and the vocals, they're pretty good...

Maybe I've just listened to a lot of music in that realm of sound, but the vocals are pretty great when comparing them to...Blood Brothers, Chiodos, etc...
And their singer stiill pwns up Lemmy, so at least that's a good sign.

They're basically post-hardcore with elements of grind.
They're really good, and definately different from most other stuff out there.

Doppelganger (I think its called) is a brilliant album. Kind of reminds me of a mix between At The Drive-In and Hot Cross.

Very brilliant band.
Definitely something new for the music scene. Very few bands stand out right now and I think The Fall of Troy is one of them.
Quit argueing over music and start listening.

Ok I got their new album and wow. I'm very happy that I took the time to acquire this. I used to like them and then strongly disliked them. I really like this new album, it is really interesting and not as annoying as the old stuff.

the dude plays guitar and sings at the same time. the complexity of the riffs make this pretty impressive.
Dimmu, by "new album" do you mean manipulator or the extremely limited run of phantom on the horizon?

supposedly they only made like 3000 or so copies of Phantom on the Horizon. Hopefully I got my order in on time.
Apparently it's the final verison of their "ghostship demo" which is supposed to be amazing in its own right.

i just downloaded both the Ghostship Demos and Phantom on the Horizon last night. I haven't listened to Ghostship Demos yet, but from what people say, they've changed some of the vocal stuff from screaming to singing and added more effects and what not. also, a few of the songs off the demos were apparently just live takes. Over on the review site, a lot of people are crying like little girls becuase they feel some of the songs off the demos were better. anyway, i guess ot answer your question, the songs are probably similar, but the quality is upped and some of the sections have been modified/enhanced
Either way, I'm sure both are amazing. I know Phantom is...proly give Ghostships a spin on the way home tonight...

Phatom on the Horizon is pretty sick, the only song I don't like better than the original demos is Pt. V. I was okay with the dropped tempo, but they changed the dancy part about midway through, and the notes in the last breakdown are waaaaaaaay too high now.
Still a great record over all though, I can't wait for their new album in 09.
