Hi, I am Kevin, the guitarist from the band Downcast. My band just recorded a 3 song demo a few days ago, and were trying to get some opinions. The levels need a little adjusting, but you can get a general idea of our sound. I'm bringing this to MX, because I know people know a thing or two about music around here. So opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Intro: Downcast is a 5 piece hard rock/groove metal band from the Tulsa, OK area. Our influences include Corrosion of Conformity, Clutch, Incubus, Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold, Black Label Society, Down, and many others. Our sound mostly resembles Corrosion of Conformity and Clutch, but Me and my fellow guitarist Robert play quicker solos than them (not trying to brag, but I'm being honest) We will be playing the Satelite battle of the bands at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa for the Tulsa World Newspaper on February 25, 2006, so if you live in the Tulsa area come check us out.
Anyways, all my band has right now is a recently created MySpace site, so heres the link...

Give it a listen and let me know what you think. Thanks.

Pretty good. I didn't like the singer too much, mainly because he didn't seem like he was comfortable with his voice, but that will come with time. The bass wasn't as loud as I would like. Frail Words kinda reminded me of Queensryche at the beginning. lol. In a while you guys will be pretty good.

Thanks for cheking us out man. I forgot to mention the fact that the levels need adjustment. Our singer is new to the band, and he used to be in an emo band so he's still adjusting to the environment we have.

man you guys have some potential! I like it you kind of have an Alice in chains sound. My one thing is ,being a bassits and drum, i would like to here more bass and more grooving drum beats then all out drum fills all the time. your drum needs to reseve him self and then "bam" hit them hard and then go back to the groove. Now for the bass he seeems very good. but his track was to low as well as the drumers track.
Where did you recored this in a pro studio or home studio. Where ever it sounds great keep it up and you should check my myspace. Are name is amnesty, we are very political and into incubus, and alice aswell as rage against the machien, metallica, black sabbath and others. are address is WWW.MYSPACE.COM/AMNESTYFL! check us out! :chug:

Yeah the singer dude is alittle shaky but just beef the voice up a little hey maybe go high with it. Anyway guitar dude who is doin the solo at the end ...are u tapping or just hammering on and off really fast? It sounds good. Id give u guys an 8/10.

The end of "Running" the dude who was recording us just told me I should freestyle something. So I did and it sounded good. I'm still trying to figure out what I played, but it was mostly legatto stuff.
