so, what to do?

I recently got coated g1s all around (snare, 10", 12", 14" toms). cranked nice and tight, I love how the snare sounds....but the 12" and 14" toms just don't do it for me.

I've tried lots of tuning combinations, but my 12" and especially the 14" just lack the OOMPH I'd hoped they'd have. the 10" sounds excellent, but trying to replicate it's tuning on the other two just doesn't seem to work.

it's a birch kit (pdp fs). I still have the stock pdp clear medium reso heads on the toms. would thinner reso heads create a bit more resonance and tone with them? I can't get both the attack nor the resonance to sounds decent (aside from the 10", like I said). any ideas?

Just spend more time tuning them untill you get the sound you want.

check the bearing edges, give them a cleaning. and then keep trying to tune...also change the resos.

Keep tuning, those heads are pretty good and should be able to get you any sound your after.

alright cool. I think I've tried [mostly] everything, but looks like I'll have to spend much more time with em. I plan to get new reso heads at some point, but I lack the fundage atm. I'll definitely look into clear g1 reso, since I've head this combination mentioned quite a bit.
