I've been playing drums for about a year, but I only just recently got a teacher. I have been pretty good about not falling into bad habits while I tought myself, and my teacher says I have a "Good Foundation". Anyway, I'm trying to think of what things I should learn first now that I have someone to teach me. Any suggestions?

dont worry about it. you have a teacher now. he will tell you what to learn first.

Exactly, if he is a good teacher he will figure out what you need to work on then bring in a lesson plan based on that.

That pretty much finishes this thread
A good tea.cher should know where to start. I just started taking lessons after playing for 20 years and the guy knew exactly where to start without me even saying a word.

Yup, though it's good to think about what direction you want to go in and let him know.
You want to be a groover, be a latin styles player, chops monster, jazz connoisseur.. etc It makes a huge difference, drums is a vast instrument as to what direction you go with it.
