well my dad's back from london, and he got me the 3 packs of rotosounds, and i was so anxious to put them on but then i said nah ill do it tommorrow after school

so i just grabbed my bass, which was laying on the couch in my room right near the open window (its pretty cold outside...enough for me not to be in my boxers if u know what i mean)for about an hour or so, and it just suddenly felt new...so i dared to plug it in to my practice amp (at 10.30 at night, not so good) and it really sounded so growly all of a sudden....

so this is kind of a two part thread, also talking about the joy of having new strings:chug:
and the weird effect of old strings sounding and feeling new

BTW dont think i changed the strings without noticing, i checked, theyre still in the package :smoke:

EDIT: new strings X3 = :)

New strings are so awesome. If only they cost as much as guitar strings...

I actually prefer strings that have been played before rather than brand new strings. They just feel better to me.

I love new strings, they are so damn expensive though.

Too bad I dislike slinky's.

Maybe the cold re-funked it? The cold makes things feel smoother, I think.

Strings go dead because of the grime and oil from your fingers which acts like a damper. When you cooled it, it became more viscous and less dampening.
I think.

I'm curious what strings came on stock my Brice. They are the best sounding strings I've ever had.

Not a huge fan of new strings, i feel that the 'twanginess' of them kinda defeats the purpose of bass, too trebly i think, ANYWAY, i prefer worn in strings, no Twanginess, i've been using the same set for a year now, and im falling in LOVE (happy for me? :)) the sound is great, only probs is that they're starting to rust now.

I LOVE YOU STRINGSSSSSSSS

what i like about new strings, is the feel and for the brightness, turn your treble way down to like 1 or 0 and it just sounds like sex

God, I love new strings! When I first changed the strings on my Kubicki it sounded ****ing awesome! Of course, it was a scary thing to do, but I got there in the end, and the tone was good enough to die for!

Sorry threadstarter, it has nothing to do with your strings.

Take some more Ritalin.

I've had the same strings on my bass since March, when I started playing, and they're still passable. They'd probably sound really awful if I had a decent rig to play through and a good bass though. :p

Mine sound ok. I guess they've been on for almost 6 months.

I haven't actually ordered any for Christmas. I really should.

I don't think the cold affects strings; I live in Scotland ('nuff said) and I leave my window open all day. No difference.

I have had the same strings that came on by bass almost a year and a half ago. I guess I'm just too cheap/poor to buy some new ones...

I think.

Nah, when things cool they would become less viscous as their particles would have less energy and move less and what not.

I hope I'm right or I'll feel like a jackass.

Rotosounds > stock strings that came on my rbx
