Since the use of YSI and other hosting websites have been forbode I looked to other parts of MX for mailing lists. Frankly, they're wicked. I like coming home and usually having one or two albums in my inbox. Its great.

So, fellow low enders, I thought why not have a bass section mailing list.

I will upload some stuff, I have 4 albums uploaded at the moment being Tomahawk's two albums, Death's The sound of perseverance and Meshuggah's Destroy Erase Improve.

I prefer to use Rapidshare seeing the site does not have a download limit for each file nor a time limit. Only after the file lays dormant for 30 days does it get deleted.

If you guys like this idea then sign up. Leave your email adress and my trusty sidekick Mr. GoodRats himself will collect your emails and send them to me.

I ask of you not to leech but upload aswell, maybe one album a month. If theres 100 people coming to this thread an uploading one album per month. Thats 100 albums.

When I get an adequate amount of people subscribed to the thread I will mail the first 4 albums out.

Personally, I think having to wait is much better than having the file become invalid after 7 days or 25 downloads.

Rapidshare is probably the best all rounded one out there, unless someone knows of a better one. In which case I will gladly start using that.

I don't see there's big a difference when compressing already compressed music (mp3's etc.) I both zipped and rar'd an album and the zip actually went smaller! I guess most zip programs nowadays can handle both zip and rar, so IMO there's no difference. Correct me if i'm wrong though.

Use rapidshare, i used zupload and left it, and then came back to it and it said cannot find server. Rapidshare takes a while, but actually works.

Well, the nie thing about Zupload was that I could have 500MB. I had all my albums archived according to the artist, not each individual album.

theoretically. but, os x is a unix-based OS, which are highly, highly, ridiculously unlikely to do so. in fact, i don't believe i've ever actually HEARD of a virus on any unix-based os. sure, i've heard of vulerabilities in certain software, but never viruses that someone opens on their computer and go "oops!" about

so yeah. if he's using os x, he's not going to be getting any viruses

the one you used? any computer can behave that way, depending on the operating system, yes, but also depending on how they're set up, what's installed, and the actual hardware that is there. i don't see what the big widespread mac hatred is for, the OS is generally more efficient and the hardware is as well compared with x86 and windows.

and if you want to get real hardcore, buy a SPARC machine

I really liked it. I'm a big fan of the vocals. I think the songs could be a little "tighter" if you know what i mean. But then again i don't know if that's what you're after.


As for the mailing list albums... do 64 kbps .wma files bother anyone else? Personally I think the sound quality sucks big time. :(

Thanks! I know what you mean by tighter, but we recorded it in a hurry sort of, so 'Count' didn't turn out the way we wanted it to. It has its flaws, and we are aware of that :) Thanks for the crit!
