Ok people. I'm dropping the melodic death one because I'm not getting alot of responses, and it's not that great of a mailing list. Everyone already has the albums, or they don't like them, download speed, blah blah blah.

So here is the Folk/Viking metal one. Yes, every week I will send out an album by a folk metal band, and one by a viking metal band. I would really appreciate help. (people uploading albums and sending them to mx.kingofterrors@gmail.com (mx.kingofterrors@gmail.com)) Also, if you have any requests, post them in here.


Please post a decent comment along with your email. I will send the albums out every week. Let's do this!

would green carnation be considered folk metal? i haven't heard anything from them but i've heard that they have some folk influence. i'm curious about their light of day, day of darkness album.

They aren;t really that much Folk to says so, Green Carnation are a progressive metal band IMO they are the creation of former Emperor bass player Terje Vik Schei you should check out Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness which is a 60 minute Prog. Metal epic.....BTW is only 1 song hehe...amazing band though. :)

Yeah is an amazing song/album, Immensely epic in scope, blasting through dark passages of swollen, over-distorted guitars to serene, idyllic moments of acoustic and choral enchantment...also More than 30 musicians were involved into this epic project, including full opera and children's choirs, classical composers, saxophonists, church organists and a lot more. This highly complex work of art was recorded using 150 tracks and almost 600 samplers. :eek: :cool:

They are more Folk oriented and not that much Viking Metal....but they do sound a lot like AA, their frontman is Vintersorg so you can figure out how they sound it's a shame that the band is currently on hold because of lack of inspiration. :upset:

Otyg is pretty much based around folk insturments with distorted guitars and drums as an addition. Their music from what I gather are actual Swedish folk songs done in a rock and metal fashion.

There are no harsh vocals at all, just clean vocals with Swedish lyrics.

And their Cover of Holy Diver is quite awesome.

i like all these mailing lists you do, and i know that i may seem impatient but really i am truely gratefully for what you are doing. half way to my goal of 10 gigs of music.
