Ok, I'm getting a 6er for Christmas, but my setup includes a 4x10 cab. I've read up that 4x10 don't handle low B's very well, so I may be looking for another cab in the not too distant future.

However, what size do you recommend? I've seen that 15" cabs can only handle low B's well, but what about 2x12's? Any others?

Cheers in advance guys :thumb:

dont worry about it...a 410 will handle it fine, ive seen many bassists do it...the only thing you cant run a low b through is like a 1 8'' or a 110 however if you would like to really be able to hear that low b i suggest getting a 115 and putting it under your 410 and then you would also have a hard core full stack!

I have a 212 and would gladly trade it for a 115/410 stack. I get some lows, and some highs, but not the best of either.

Hmmm, that's been through my mind, but I was looking at the Hartke cab with the 2x8"'s and a 15", would that be blown?

10's can do low really well - you needn't necessarily get a 15 or 18 to go underneath.

The Ampeg PR410 HLF does a killer B, and Basson cabs have a 3x10, 4x10 and 5x10 that deliver 30Hz in spades.

And something to keep in mind; just because a driver is bigger doesn't make it and the cab it sits in capable of 30Hz - do your homework.

All depends on what you feel like you can carry.

You aren't gonna blow the speakers by running a low B through them, unless you have the speakers at the very end of their usable volume on high strings, with the bass cranked.

I've played drop-tuned 6 strings into 4x10's several times with a metal band I was in temporarily, and you don't get as much thump as you would with a 15, but its not a big deal.

People put FAR too much emphasis on speakers size, and not enough on the speakers themselves. These characteristics that you hear are horrible generalizations, and not always true.
