Ive always wondered this. Is it easier to make music, then write lyrics, or vise versa. My band is having a tough time doing all this, but when we make something it sound good to us. It took us about the beginning of the summer until a few weeks ago to complete a song. Any advice?

your telling me it toke you 6 months to make a song, how often do you practice??? i usually get a chorus and verse that fit together and go from there i usually end up maybe even changing the riffs to fit the singing better, but mostly just work lyrics from the music i have

This is his bandmate. Our band was having problems finding a singer. We'd gt one and then he'd leave. I don't know the reason. Our first one sucked. But now he's back and better now. We're goin at a quiker pace now but yea thats what happened.

with my band we do it Music then lyrics, but it's all preference. Try both ways and see what you guys like better.

Yeah, you can do it both ways. I know Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth usually writes the instrumental stuff first and then writes lyrics that fit the riffs based on a certain lyrical idea he'll have.

I find that when you write the music first, it sounds the best.
