ok so im lookin 2 buy myself a little christmas present. n im thinking im gonna get a cymbal pack. and i am debating between the Zildjian A cumstom or the Zildjian Avedis. the A custom cums with 14" hats, 16" crash, 18" crash, 20" ride, gig bag, and a boom stand and is 559.99. The Avedis cums with 14" hats, 14" fast crash, 16" crash, 20" ride, gig bag and boom stand and is 499.99. i play mostly funk rock and blues is that is of any importance. and advice on which 1 to choose would be great. and if there is a reccomendation on another set im up for lookin at it. thanx alot

A customs for your type of music. Type with less innuendo next time, ok?

Yeah, for some reason my eye went straight to that. Strange? Anyway yeah i guess A customs would more suit your style. I really prefer regular As myself though.

Just go with regular A's man, haha.
But wait, the fast crash is a very thin model, check out their weights before hand.

I would say to get the regular A's. If you're playing blues you're gonna want a little more character in the cymbals, I think the A customs are too 'clean' and glassy for blues. Besides, the A's are probably going to be more versatile.

alright so im leaning more towards the a customs, im dominately a funk rock drummer. so i think they will cut through the music pretty well. and im sorry for "internet slang" thats what happens to you when you talk on AIM(aol instant messanger) alot. I will try my hardest to fix it.

First of all, don't get a pack. Second of all, I find As to be more versatile. I sold all my A Customs and bought As.

Go with regular As. No matter what style you play, they will be great. Plus, you will always be able to break out of your normal mode with regular As.

If you insist on a pack then A Custom as i find a 14" crash to be much too small

In any case, doesn't anyone notice that he's paying less for the As, and gets a free 14" Fast crash? He can trade that in for an 18" with a bit of cash, and still have paid less than the A Customs. How could anyone recommend A Customs in this situation?

they sound better :D

They sound more shimmery, but less full and have less attack imo. The regular As have more attack and body, and in pretty much every situation that's what I'd rather have, over some shimmery glassy tone.

preference i guess. im addicted to that tone now, so far that my only 'dark crash' disgusts me :D

As are brighter too, and model for model are heavier. Better projection and cut.

I love both lines. Either would be a worthy purchase. Although buying each cymbal individually would be the smartest route, I don't think anyone can ridicule you because both of those packs contain cymbals that are definitely worth your money. Personally I'd suggest the regular A's. I have plenty A's and A Customs on my kit and I think the A's would work better for you :thumb:

I would go with regular a's bought seperatly. It is way better that way as you can try every cymbal before you buy.

i wouldnt buy the actual pack itself, pick out the cymbals themself so they willl be what you actually want, you can mix and match. some places let you pick any cymbal of equal size and same line to substitute for those packs
avedis imo is better tho

I would go for regular A's if of course Sabian wasn't an option....

Buy Sabian :thumb:I'm actually finding out if I can custom order some Sabians with just the "Sabian" text on them. No half-cymbal logo, no line, size, or model designation.

Out of those two, an A. I wouldn't use either in my set-up, but if I had to pick, I'd pick an A. Mostly just because I hate A Customs.

That's different than them *just* putting on the word "SABIAN", that uses a different bubble press dealio than the standard one, i.e., the one they use with Paragons, with a different ink. Then to put *just* the model designation on the bubble would have to go down in a different spot than it usually does. That takes a bit more efford than just flipping the cymbal, which is what they're doing in your case. Hopefully they can do it though.

Packs are good- especially for zildjian because zildjian are consistent and you know that the cymbals in the pack with complement each other. Of course its always better to buy seperate cymbals but if you don't know much or if your on a budget packs are great. The other good thing about packs is that it gives you some sort of ground to expand your set on

That's a load of crap, Zildjian are no more consistent than anyone else.
