it is as hard as you make it. if you play some jaco or claypool or wooten or myung, then it is hard. but if you play some blink 182 or some greenday, you wouldnt be too challenged after a while.

what styles do you listen to, and what do you know about music already?

what he said. if you want to be good, its a very hard instrument. but if you want to play root notes and sit in the pocket all day, it wont be too challenging.

Well, I play drums(so I have no exp) but will be picking up a bass this weekend. I decided on it when I heard them play "Death Blooms" and "Dig".

Its going to be completely diffrent reading bass music compared to drum music.

not hard at all. It's actually the easiest instrument ever. You need no determintion, no practice, all you have to do is play guitar and you'll be a pro at bass. Hell you don't even need to know anything about music to be good at bass.

Heard of Kaki King or Justin King? lol. Yea, I was being very sarcastic because I hate the question "How hard is _____?" and it goes for any instrument. It's as hard as you make it.

Ok I didn't feal the sarcasim. I thought you where one of the guitarists that think that because they play guitar they can auto-play bass. I actually have never herd of any guitarists slapping or popping so it looks like I made a fool of my self. I'll look them up because I'm interested in how it sounds and how they use it, never sounded good when I tried it on a guitar.

The only thing that hurts is my e-pride.

A good beginner Mudvayne song would be -1. Thats the easiest one of L.D. 50. But you can start where you want.

I loved School of Rock. I also liked how the girl who played upright/cello/whatever she played just magically turned it sideways and could play an electric.

Especially fun since cello and electric bass are so different. Not even tuned the same.
