Hi guys,
I watched the Cream Reunion Show on my Public Television the other night, which was really cool, and the drummer (who is like 80 years old, which is also really cool) had a ride that I really liked. It didn't have a logo, but it had those "sizzlers," i think you call them, on there. I didn't think I would like those things but they were not as loud as I though they'd be and I really liked the sound of them, this was probably one of my favorite sounding rides I've ever heard and I was just wondering if anyone saw this show, and could possibly tell me what cymbal this was. Thanks.

How would anyone know? An unmarked ride with sizzles... that gives us a lot to work with man. You can have sizzles put in to *any* cymbal.

I've seen at least 2 threads were someone was asking about an unmarked cymbal, and they were alot more helpful than you

Zildjian makes sizzle rides and things like the swish knocker with rivets, but the point is you can get ANY ride with sizzles. Makes it a little harder than showing us a picture of a B8 Pro.

If I had to make a simple guess I would say it's a medium ride of some sort. It's got a bit of build up thats for sure.

yea, it looked like it was kinda old and worn, and It looked like the sizzles were from the factoryAnd how exactly would you be able to tell if that was different in any way? You can send any cymbal *back* to the factory and get sizzles installed. Technically... *all* sizzles are from the factory if they are professionally done...

I saw that show, it was pretty good. I liked the ride, but it didn't have any markings or anything, so i don't know.

I got that on DVD....easily one of the best shows ever, and one of the greatest bands of all time.

I thought Baker played/plays Zildjian. I assumed that ride was from his Cream days or something. Probably an old A ride, probably a 22" medium or something. It sounded great, one of the best drum sounds I've ever heard.

Btw he's 65, not 80 :p

People really need to learn their drummers and what bands they play for. jeesh.

Quite possibly. What's that got to do with this thread?

Regarding the cymbal, it'll be Zildjian. My best and barely educated guess would be a 20"/22" A Medium Ride w/rivets. Obviously, an older one, probably from the 60's, and most likely the same one he used for their last show at the Albert Hall so many years ago.

especially someone as legendary as Ginger Baker, whose up there wuith Peart, Bonham, and Moon as the greatest rock drummers of all time.

wow, I don't wanna start an argument or anything, but you're kinda being an ***, this person just wants some help and your just being an ***

Er no, I think that was a perfectly logical reaction. Otherwise the next most feasible reaction would be "Congratulations! I know what cymbal that was. It was a ride with rivets."

For god's sake, provide pictures at least! Any cymbal CAN and WILL be riveted so long as the owner wants it.

wow, I don't wanna start an argument or anything, but you're kinda being an ***, this person just wants some help and your just being an ***I don't want to turn this into a flame war, but no. You can't come into a forum and honestly expect someone to properly identify an unmarked Zildjian cymbal, and expect people to know what it is giving the description "it had sizzles".

To be quite honest, he would have more success writing a letter to Modern Drummer, who could contact him, and put it in their little "Ask the Pros" section.

So... there you have it doofy.

His other cymbals were Zildjian. That ride is most likely a 20-22" regular A medium ride that's older than hell. I cant find any info on his cymbal choices from years past, so I cannot be sure.

And, yes, knowing your history is important. He could have at least googled Cream and found his name.

"To be quite honest, he would have more success writing a letter to Modern Drummer, who could contact him, and put it in their little "Ask the Pros" section."

That's a really good idea. I bet they would answer it, too.

n00bz, you can put rivets in any cymbal. they come factory inserted but you can have them out in any brand cymbal. I was wondering the same thing to. If you are talking about his ride it looked like a zlidjian tom e.
