take it slow and practice. And for strategies, I usually put the queen on E5 and the tower to D7.

strategy?

when the perfect skill comes along, sneak up on it and jump on it. no practice needed whatsoever

my strategy would be... (now, i'm very well known for having crazy, out-of-this-world strategies which may not be suitable, or even possible, for the average human to achieve, so be warned...)

practice.

yes. practice.

now it may seem like a weird concept, but this is because double bass is much different than any other acquired skill. whereas everything else can instantly be achieved with no effort, this is the one and only task that takes a human being any time at all to make any progression.

good luck with it. i'll try to think up more strategies. there just has to be something that makes more sense than practicing.

First build up your army of toes, and upgrade their attack by 2. This can be done at your blacksmnasium.
Construct some anklepults, and charge the pedal team head on, before they have a chance to build their spring defence systems.

yea, stay away from that straight 16th notes mentality and learn how to play real double bass.

do you wanna play nothing but straight 16th notes on the snare too? yea that would really top it off eh?

I wouldn't really advise staying away from straight 16ths all together, but definitely practise borken patterns, paradiddles etc.

Remember, the single stroke roll is a rudiment too.

yeah man i agree with raz0r, try doing rudiments like paradiddles on your pedal. i remember when i first got my double ped. the first song i learned was dig, by mudvayne, only cos i was realy into mudvayne at the time, but its reletivly simple, so good for a begginer! enjoy!

Work through stick control on your feet.

And totally stay away from anything like what was said in the 1st post.

im actually very glad to hear that ~ its refreshing :chug:

its not very important, control is more important.
for example: go ahead and play straight 16ths at a moderate speed, now drop 1 bassdrum note per bar. any note you want but drop 1 hit per bar. get that down pat and then drop 2 notes, etc. that would be a way more constructive then just straight 16ths :thumb:

I still practice straight 16ths with my feet, just for the mechanics and to build my muscles. My feet suck.

Perhaps you aren't practicing very well then? Mirrors are very helpful tools for working out feet issues.

Well, I think I am practicing well. I'm working through Progressive Double Bass with a metronome, paying special attention to use my ankles and relax my muscles. My feet are a hell of a lot better than they were, they just aren't what I want them at yet.

well niw i guess you know what i was talking about...im just really frustrated at how bad my feet suck and i want to make my feet stronnger and more even...i figured the best way to learn double bass was to practice slow with a metronome but i wanted to know if there was any other way to do it...
