As you all know I just rdered a new Set, BUT WHAT IS HE TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeff,
Just wanted to let you know, I shipped a kit to Canada about a week ago and they are holding it in customs until a broker can clear it. i have never had one held like this and am a little unclear on the broker thing. i don't know the process or how much this may cost. also, i don't know if there are any duties or taxes to pay on it. If this is a problem, we can call the whole thing off and still post positive feedback. Just wanted to let you know that.

Maybe he did not file the correct paperwork...But heres what i found on UPS
You can also Call UPS and provide them with your Tracking # and your name , and they will give u the same details they are giving the shipper, and better explain it.

so what are brokers and why are they holding my drums???? and ya it was Fed EX To by the wayThey are the middle men, Depending on size or what not there may be a fee. They check for drugs or other things not listed in Product description :thumb:
/Is late The link Joseph put up said there will be a charge. Only 5 bucks from the looks of it.
I'm sure that means that Customs decided to check the items and will put a duty charge and taxes on the kit before releasing it to Fedex. Fedex would have their own brokers that would take care of the details I would imagine.

Also check this
http://canadaonline.about.com/cs/customs/a/shopshipcanada.htm
Because of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Canadians do not have to pay duty on most American and Mexican manufactured items. But be careful. Just because you buy an item from a U.S. store does not mean it was made in the United States.
Fedex will collect the charges when they get to your door. Where was it being shipped from and to?

Those companies are also the most efficient at getting stuff across the border so it's sort of a trade off.
my dad got a golf club over ebay and there was 20$ duty charge:confused:

Tough situation, luckily the guy was kind enough to inform you about it. It'd give you a heart attack if someone called you up and told you that you needed to pay them several hundred dollars worth of tax if you wanted your kit.
I bought a cymbal from the states and asked the guy to ship via USPS to Australia. Stuff is tax-free up to $1000 via USPS but only $250 by other shipping methods (like FedEx). So the guy went ahead and shipped it via FedEx, and declared a value of $270. So i was $20 over the limit, and a guy from an Indian call center informed me that I will be getting slapped with $80 worth of tax, which is extremely uncool :(
Customs aren't cool.

Hey I dont know how it is in the US but Canada Post owns 80% of Puralator here so you never know who is really handling your stuff.

really when shipping over the border, its a mystery...they dont check everything...they do random checks...and if they do check it..they charge you a certain percentage of what you paid total...
yeah my company does parcel delivery for Canada Post and it's very random.

They charge tax on everything, just like when you bring stuff over the border yourself, I live in Windsor, the border with Detroit/Windor is the bussiest border crossing in the world, and they ding you if you have over 100$ per person in the car and don't declare it.
We get dinged big time for buying stuff from the states! Ive bought Wuhans
(400$ us) and they had 80$ can. tax and duties on them, and my elims from mass cost 50$ in taxes and such!
I went to the US for a big shopping trip one time and told Canadian customs that I had spent about $400 and they just told me to go. Maybe the chick border guards are just nicer.
