View Full Version : Yamaha Stage Customs
So instead of the Tama Rockstar I've decided to get myself one of these as I've heard nothing but good things from you guys and I think they look amazing.
Discuss these kits? Ever played on one? What did you think? What's the bass drum pedal like?
I am getting really excited! :D And I'll post tons of pictures when I get it!!
Oh yeah the price is about $845. I am not sure how much these cost in the USA but it has the 12", 13" and 16" toms if I'm not mistaken. (the floor tom isn't attached to a cymbal stand, that's for sure)

Awesome kit, is it a nouveau? Gotta love those lugs
I am not sure what the difference is to be honest..

Does it have the black lugs that come away from the shell?

i dont like any of the finishes, or the hardware, those are the only bad things i can say about it, those are personal though..:P

I am not sure.. If it does is that good?

They are decent lugs, but i dont know if they would be considered 'better'. The are single point so they keep the shell more resonant

Great Kits, Killer Hardware, you will definetly enjoy it. You will want to add some new heads to it first off. As for the pedal, its ok, nothing great nothing bad, i replaced mine right away. I have had 2 of these sets and have nothing received nothing but compliments on the sound and looks of it. Hardware holds up great to just about anything you add to it.
Here are a few pics of the one i currently have and the old one

Sorry, just had to get that out of my system. Anyhoo.. yeah.... I have a Stage Custom Standard as my first kit. It's really good. I didn't appreciate it until I played my friends' kits. But yeah... good hardware and everything. Especially the finish... natural.

Sold my brown amber fade kit, so i can use the $$ as a bit of security when i bought my first house, after i settled in, i bought another. I was pleased in everyway with the kit, so i purchased the same kind, just different finish. Also went from Paiste Sigz to Zildjian A's, K's. Its a very solid kit.

I liked the Paiste's plenty, but i wouldnt say that its a Downgrade going to the A's, A Customs, K Customs. Its a different sound than the paiste sigs, a sound that i have to say i like just as much as the sound i got from signatures.
The first kit is Yellow Natural Fade,
Second is Brown Amber Fade.
Paiste Sigs and Zildjian A Customs go well together, IMO
The mellow crashes of the Paiste sound a lot like the normal crashes of the A's
And in that first pic...CHECK OUT THE GHOST SPLASH, front centre. Scary stuff

What a downgrade:upset: Atleast the A's..Yeah man, look at the price tags on those Signatures... considering they are 2.5 times more expensive than an A, they *must* be 2.5 times better!
Anyway, Stage Customs are very solid kits, I would recommend them to anyone, along with Sonor 3005s.
And yeah, that splash is creepy.

I agree my 3005's are like heaven transformed into drums.

My next kit is probably gonna be a yammie. I've been really impressed with their stuff.

Do the Stage Customs compare to 3005s? They are much cheaper here and if I don't go SONOR should I go YAMAHA?

The Sonor are better imo, but that doesn't mean the Stage Customs aren't great.

You don't like my natural finish? How can you not like my natural finish? What is wrong with you!? YOU'RE INHUMAN! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH
So I just bought it. It will be delivered tomorrow afternoon. I got the cranberry red fade (just like Yoseph Yamaha's in the third and fourth picture) because that's all they had in stock. I got it for $780.

For sure
Thanks guys, I am really excited now. I will post some pictures as soon as I get it!
I'm also gonna earn about 260$ by selling my old set and I'll use that to upgrade my cymbals. But as they only sell Paiste around here and the odd random Istanbul or something I am not quite sure which Paiste's to get.
I already have an 802 crash that I like. Should I see if I can get an 802 ride and hats as well for that price? Or are the new FP5's a better choice?
They also have a new line called 201's, I suppose these are just a cheaper version of the 302's or something?
