EDIT: Double bass. I thought you ment pedal.

You need to get a hi-hat attachment that attaches the hi-hat stand to your bass drum and allows you to close the legs of the hi-hat.
And cowbell pedal's are awesome. I want one.

Yes...

Purchase a hi-hat to bass drum clamp.

Thats the one I use and it's been great, makes a WORLD of difference.

Ahh saw your edit...

Just loosen everything up and adjust, get on the throne and test then get back down and adjust some more. It's all trial and error.

i never have gotten completely used to my hi hats, i plan on getting an x-hat to move them in a few inches closer just for my own sake, its all trial and error to get it the best you can, jim said it all.

if you play a rack, clamp it to that :)
if you play a 2 bass rig, get the hat-to-bass clamp
if you play a 1 bass rig, you could always boom in a clamp from a normal stand and fold up the legs.. i think fuzzy does that when his rack stays at home

If only I folded my legs instead of cutting one off.
