last night, i watched the top 50 comedians. i was pleased to see bill hicks made it to no.13. i cant believe that short haired wally woofter had the audacity to say he was "just a comic". for someone who conscribes to a philosophy of "gentle anarchy" i thought it was pretty cool how high he ranked. he was more infinatly more punk than about 90% of the bands that attach that fashion lable to themselves. his death was much more tragic than any "famous" punks. what an inspiration that guy is. anyone agree? or have thoughts on him? or any other comedians? he makes me laugh deep inside as well as really think. so much more than a comic.
bill bailey and all, hes a funny ****er! must be something to in that name....

Bill Hicks is is the best, in all sense of the word. He is my only hero, and if I were inclined to believe in Jesus, then Bill Hicks was Jesus Incarnate. But I don't, so he wasn't. There are not man words to describe him. He just owns, and everytime I think of his death, I feel like crying. Humanity has lost a lot when he died.

Well, he had a punk band. Marblehead Johnson. They did not have the punk sound, but they had had the ethics and stuck to them more than most punk bands. And he did have a mohawk for a while, but then he rebelled agaionst the fashion industry and wore only black, until the last few months of his life, in which he started wearing colourful and vibrant clothing and had a much more positive outlook on life.

I love Bill Hicks. I have all his albums and most of the available bootlegs. No one individual has affected my view of life more. He is just about the funniest and insightful person of the 20th century or indeed any other century. If you want someone with a "punk-rock" attitude then you can't get much better than him. He viciously skewered any hypocrisy, bigotry and ignorance and he did while making you laugh until you cry.
Listen to him.

This could've been made in the Pit or the Media Center, or just posted in the Community Thread.
