I just bought Half-Life 1 Anthology. Awesome game. I recently played HL 2 at a friends and that was really cool too.

I want to buy HL 2, but sadly, I don't think my computer will run it :upset: Cable internet is also on my wish list.

Anybody else a major fan of these games? I prefer HL1, personally.

HL2 is possibly the best game ever released.

HL1 is good, but drags a bit.

Rocket to launch? Don't you just need to fry that huge alien?

I'm on the rail cart part. It's not the most exciting part of the game.

Darn grunts :upset:

This is no exaggeration. It truly is one of the greats.

I was just playing Lost Coast before I came on here. They have pushed the engine a bit more with that but Might and Magic V: Dark Messiah looks to push the engine even further. I think that the original Half-Life has to be one of my favourite games ever, at the time it was just so far ahead of the competition in terms of design. I think there is a new single player episode for the original on one of my PC Gamer discs, might give it a go.

You have to turn the valves to get the oxygen and whatever-the-other-liquid-fuel was.

You have to go down the elevator shaft to turn one of them. That's all I remember. I don't know where the other was at.

I personally feel that both HL1 and HL2 are two of the best games. Ever. Period.

They're definitely two of the best games I've ever played. Not only do they both have great story lines, they both scare the hell out of you, and were groundbreaking games at the time of the release.

I have both of them, have played through both of them, and do not have any complaints. They're both flawless. :)

I hated "Welcome to Ravenholm" the first time I played it.

Oh god those things were freaky, and I always managed to screw up with aiming.

Its true, its a real shame there isn't any good multiplayer options that dont require you to go online

Surely every other modern PC FPS has that 'problem' too?

Yeah but Half Life 1 was excellent, better than the majority of FPS out today, but I don't know, I only play console FPS mostly....

I loved HL 1. I finished it a couple of months ago. Haven't played HL2 yet, but it's next up. Played and enjoyed the demo, though. I'm currently making my way through D3 and Riddick. Once one of those are up HL2 will come on board. Although I do want to play the expansion for D3. I have just 29 gigs left on my HD, so I have to kinda manage the storage until I get an external. Which may actually be this month.

HL 1 was amazing. Big pixels and all. The gameplay is flawless, controls perfect, and levels well designed and executed. I recognized it's influence immediately from other games I have played. From Far Cry to FEAR (the demo, at least) to D3 to NOLF2. It's quite a remarkable game. And the fact that they carried the feel of the game over to a new title like HL2 is all the more impressive. When I played the demo it felt like HL but with way better graphics. Very nice.

HL1 has the story... but HL2 has the gameplay. Simply unbeatable.

I played 1 and enjoyed it. At the mo I'm about half way through HL2 (I think- I just got into Nova Prospekt) and I'm loving it. It's so much more varied than most FPS's I've played. Plus it's rewarding when you work out something particulaly tricky (since they don't tell you how to do each thing or where to go)

Wow

Who's seen the video of the kid beating HL2 in two hours? That **** is sick.

Edit: I forgot about the kid beating HL1 on hard in 45 minutes. That one's amazing, too.

Yeah, it's insane.

HL1's story was great, but HL2 deffinatly brought the whole FPS genre to a new level. I was so wowed at the start when you're getting chased through the apartments.

I can't wait for Aftermath and the following episodes. They're supposed to be more story oriented.

And I wonder if there's more David Bowie G-Man:cool:

The Half Life expansions were pretty cool, but not Blue Shift, the one where you play as the military guys are pretty mean.

I liked how it made you fall through the stairs when you tried to get back up, but you just kind of fell into the story line. I didn't get very far...but loved that.

I loved HL. Great game, but HL2 was missing what I loved about the first one. HL2 was a really good game, but it seemed to lack depth to me, and it was too linear.
