OPERATION IVY is the definitive collection from the ska-punksters who helped lay the groundwork for the commercial success of such '90s bands as Green Day and Sublime. the range of musical styles into which the band ventures is awesome.
Such tracks as "Take Warning" and "Unity" bear the earmarks of ska: smooth basslines, punchy horns, beefy vocals, and the toe-tapping rhythmic anchor of a jittery, clean-tone guitar. The terrific "Bad Town" sounds almost like a slacker rock melding of Pavement and the Steve Miller Band. "Gonna Find You" and "Jaded" are barnstorming rockers that could very well serve as theme songs for the impressive Operation Ivy.
OI is awesome punk/SKa band.

Yeah they're good, but I really doubt they laid the groundwork for the commercial success of Green Day.
Also, OpIvy never had horns, except for on Unreleased Energy, and you totally copied that blurb from;

The give 'em the boot dvd is awsome. But only if you like Rancid. More than half of the dvd is Rancid or their side projects.
Tim actually plays the first verse of Knowledge acoustic together with the AFI singer.

The US is far from the largest country in the world. And I disagree about the smart part. I'm sure you have to have some sort of intelligence to operate a country, but Bush has done so many things wrong and that the population disagreed with that he's made himself look horrible. I know he isn't an idiot, but he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

The whole of Energy is awesome - no bad songs at all IMO. Sure it would have been great to see a couple more albums to see them experiment a bit more, but i'm still not over Energy so its fine by me. From what i've heard of Rancid, they don't seem to have the flair that Op Ivy did.
