Ok I just got my hands on a copy of Battlefield 1942 and it lags like crap on my computer. I found that according to the minimum requirements, my computer is more then capable of running the game smoothly. It works fine when I'm on my own, but as soon as there's a bit of heated battle with a few people it nearly comes to a complete stop. I've turned all the graphics related stuff in game to as low as possible and it's not doing anything.

Is there anyway to fix this? Maybe my settings? Anything?

My specs are;

NVidia GeForce4, 512mb ram, 2.4 GHz, XP

I've had problems with games in the past and I think my computer isn't running at it's full potential, particularly ram wise.

Make sure to close any other programs that are running. And that you don't have any viruses/spyware.

Yeah whenever I run it I do so with everything closed, even background processes that are not being used. It might be a virus or spyware but I have a new HD and I was experiencing simliar problems with games on the old HD.

try adjusting the game resolution/ other graphical settings

using a geforce 4, i wouldnt think you'd be able to run it at max res and detail
