I am tired of everyone here saying it in every challenge I enter, especially those who haven't even seen most of the songs I've entered in these challenges or written outside of them. I'm tired of seeing it in relation to anything I write. For the love of Christ, stop comparing my frigging output with everything else you've ever seen by me. It's STUPID. I don't write these songs to make you wet your pants, because I could write a peice of **** song that everyone here loves quite easily.

I'm not going to write the same song you love so much over and over again every challenge. I'm not going to see, "Oh, it's good and all, but it's like not as good as everything else you do because that stuff is great" as worthwhile criticism. For the love of Christ, I have seen this crit in every challenge I've entered for almost a year now. Where are these "usual Burt" songs you love so much? I remember Ive mentioned your past work while giving you a crit within the last ten challenges or so, but i think it was something like "i like that you are taking a new direction, but dont like..." kind of thing. and i realize i didnt really give you a crit for this one, so i will.

i liked the honesty, but in the last stanza the coal thing seemed kind of bland. gotta go i might comment more later.

The lyrics aren't particularly amazing. They're actually rather simple yet abstruse and opaque. The key to Deftones is the vocal presentation. On "Digital Bath" when Chino sings in falsetto "I feel like more," his voice is piercing and chilling. On "Knife Party" a vocal melody that gets higher and higher eventually warps into a screamed background as if somebody is being murdered. Deftones have one of the best vocalists around in Chino and even employ guest vocalists in a non-cheesy way (MJ and that chick who screams on "Knife Party" and is famous for echolalia or something along those lines).

I think that they're pretty good musicians too. "Minerva" is aces. "Be Quiet And Drive" and "My Own Summer" aren't particularly hard but the riffs are great. "Korea", "Hexagram" and "When Girls Telephone Boys" melt my face off.

I know, I'm changing it. It looked better on my home PC because it has a really dark monitor, but on my friend's the gamma is higher and I can tell it makes the picture look worse than it is.

I have a lot of issues with your piece. A lot of the contextual grammar in the first stanza is nonsensical, for one (mostly at the end). The way you tie the theme in is done well, but it means absolutely nothing to me because it's imagery without relevance to anything else. The ambiguous names of people I don't know and have no interest in drag this down even more contextually. I thought a lot of the word choice, especially in the first stanza, was also not to my liking.

WhatILiveFor- 6 This one read like a gimongous run-on sentence. You've got great ideas, but the presentation was too rough.


One gimongous run-on sentence is called flow, which I really focused on in this piece. I wanted it to be that way. The rhymes aren't in a consistent pattern, and that was on purpose as well. It flows differently and more smoothly if you read it out loud rather than in your head.

But no matter, I don't mind that you don't like it. I just thought I'd comment on what you said, and tell you that you caught what I was trying to do with the "rolling" flow (if that makes sense) -even if you didn't like it.
