i have some settings on the back of my box, this is what i call the "electric setting", i use it mostly with my D-G-C strings and E and A past the 12th fret. It Works well with lower notes, but its tailored for Higher End Tunes.
Im doing this by Clock settings
Level at 11 oclock
EQ Low at 7
EQ High at 12
Balance at 4
Gain at 5
I use this with a Fender Tenor Jazz Basss.
suggested setting:
set on railroad tracks
wait for 4:30 train
enjoy watching it disentergrate. (i assure you, it's the only enjoyment you'll get out of it).

Supernaut when you have another distortion pedal you beging to appreciate waht the ODB3 can do, id take the Muff over it any day, but the ODb3 does have its storng points.
i have owned these distortion pedals:
Boss ODB-3
Boss DS-1
DOD Death Metal Distortion
Big Muff
they all suck.

^i concur. i have yet to find a distortion pedal i actually like. i'm considering trying the jekyll and hyde pedal.

uhh..
avoid having more gain than balance.
for distortion, I guess I like the gain at like 9:00 and balance at 3:00.
scooped mids on your amp usually makes it sound better and...If you have a presence on your amp, that makes an impact too.

yeah it isn't all that great...I can't find a sound I like :/
a light overdrive is good though. Plus my bass has 2 humbuckers, I prefer the pedal with my GSR200, p/j config is more of my tone with distortion.

What's so bad about it? I played around with it last night and found a few tones I liked.
i just found it to be worthless. it wasn't capable of producing any sound i liked.
I've heard it's possible to get a good DFA 1979 tone out of this, any suggestions?

look for a vintage mxr 80 distortion on ebay. I have one thats roughly 30 years old, is simple to use, and sounds great

Why does everyone always bash the ODB3? she sound you get depends completely on the amps gain and eq settings, and what type of sound you want. mine servs me well with an equal amount of gain and volume on my 4x10, gives me a lovely hard sound

Just a question, i'm borrowing my friends Boss Distortion DS-1 (For Guitar). It gives a very cool spacey distortion but can go to a warm big muff tone. Is the ODB all that different to it.
Also, with pedals, on my current amp, i find that they cause a bit of crackly (same as if you have the volume to high and too much treble or mid). Will the Ashdown im getting eliminate this?
Thanks
